I remember an interview of Darren Lockyer a while ago but after those dominant Queensland origin years.

He recalled a game they were losing against NSW with bugger all time left with nothing shaping up that could win the game. His move?

He said to Thurston.....can you do something?

So he passed it to JT who ran on the outside shoulder of his opposite, dummied, broke the line and seconds later. Try scored and game won.

That. That is what a great half can do.

And JT took a long time to become as good as he was.
Apprenticeship with the dogs and then further time with the Cowboys before becoming eliite.
At the Cowboys he was following up behind Taumolo at his peak
