General NSW Cup 2025

I just think they panicked when adding the likes of Morgan Harper bringing back Setu Tu after injuries & poor form in the pre-season. Norris has come out of nowhere this year he’s probably been better than CPP 8 tries in 9 games. Good to see some speed coming through. Bit of indictment on Ralphie Sio though not getting promoted to Cup

Tbf Raph Sio is quite far off Cup level yet.

He's Flegg eligible next year and hasn't really been dominant at that level yet this year and last year

I think we'll see Raph Sio in NSW Cup a lot more in 2027

Young halves & a weakened bench this week. Manly have only won 1 of their last 5 but tend to still be competitive in matches1000009875.webp

Anyone see the game?
Yip, we looked a bit spastic on attack in the first half with lots of new combinations, came right once they got into things. Defended brilliantly throughout, Manly had lots of good field position in the first half but we kept holding them out.
Key takeaway for me, Sio Kali is an out and out winger, not a centre, he finished off a nice long range try showing plenty of speed and was good under pressure defusing bombs. Good to see him back on the park, played 60 before they took him off, assuming they were managing minutes rather than being injured.

Player of the match for me was Jason Salalilo, that kid is the goods! Leg speed for days. Very impressive for his age.

I watched it delayed, and it was a pretty impressive effort from a young side. Very scrappy first half from both teams, but our class shone through in the second half. Tuaupiki was good (phew!) and will surely be recalled against the Tigs.

This team is a strong defensive unit - granted the quality of attack isn't NRL level, but this team works hard for each other on D. We say this from the NRL side earlier in the year, but have started to lose our way without the ball.

The attack was certainly not as crisp as when Tanah Boyd plays - hopefully this bodes well for our game vs the Tigers... if Webby picks Boyd (surely, right?!).

After the injury toll from today, I was a bit nervous when Taine went down early in the second half, but good to see him play out the game.

Kali looked good on the wing - very physical on defence, which was great to see. Good with ball in hand and took on the Sea Eagles fullback, Faulalo, (highly rated?) for his try. Agree with Riz, looked like he was pulled at around 60 mins - just before Tu's second try - as he was walking around the back of the in goal when we were attacking. Maybe the Cup coaching staff got a message from Suncorp to put Kali on ice after CNK went down?

Kali definitely wasn't injured? He needs to play first grade this week. Like an absolute must.
