General NSW Cup 2024

Front rower Preston Riki was named the Vodafone Player of the Year in 2018 and winner of the Sonny Fai Medal for Vodafone Junior Warriors. He was picked up by the Panthers 2022 in the 💙 Mighty NSW cup and has now been called up by Ivan Cleary to make his NRL debut. Riki was born in Rawene and will play alongside James Fisher-Harris in the front row.
81 games of Reserve grade (would've been over 100 if 2020 wasn't abandoned) before he finally cracks it. Recently turned 26 so could still push out a relatively long NRL career. Great perseverance

Although The Roosters - this weekend opponents, sit 2nd bottom, the teams are pushing very similar stats for the season to date.
Happy to have reinforcements back this week to solidify the team for a tricky away game.

The team is also very young, maybe the youngest in the comp?

Hats off to the club for pushing the young guys above their expectant pay grade as many could be still running around in 19’s and 21’s.
Strategically throwing them in the deep end will certainly develop their game while observing how they handle the increased pressures both mentally and physically of 💙 Mighty NSW Cup, a precursor to eventually making the step up to 1st Grade.
