NRL NRL on Sky

Just saw this email, 15% off for the duration of the NRL season, that's probably me.

Haven't done the calcs but assuming it's basically just reversing the recent price increase 😅

EDIT : so March would be 46.75 (from 54.99) and April 50.99 (from 59.99). Not too shabby.

Sky are showing the first NSW Cup game.
Last year was a bit hit and miss with which Mt Smart games Sky would show.
With 8 NSW Cup games scheduled as curtain raiser games at Mt Smart this year, hopefully it is all or most.

The Sky guide has updated and the NSW Cup games will be on Sky before our round 2 and 4 games at home.

With Round 3 against the Knights being the early Saturday game, Fox Sports/Sky Sports are showing our NSW Cup then as well.

Wonder how long it's going to be before NRL coverage splits into Club Coverage. Pay a bit to watch your club or A Lot More to watch the whole NRL....
Certainly starting to notice the different broadcasting deals sporting bodies are making these days.
Sky have for years made decisions as to which cricket they do and don't care about showing.
Outside of Sonyliv, it's really hard to legally watch a lot of Sub-Continent matches/England matches (even if there's a legal way, the geoblock is that you can subscribe to FanPass or Whatever, but it must be with an Indian Credit Card. Just have to hope either one of the Cricket Boards involved or the broadcaster involved will allow some kind of Youtube coverage.
Otherwise you get on Youtube, type in "Sri Lanka v India ODI 1" and get treated to a video of a Sri Lanka v India ODI being played on EA Sports Cricket (whateveryearedition) with commentary in - understantably - Sri Lankan/Indian.

Watching NRL 360 and it’s unbelievable. The Warriors put 40+ on the Roosters, dominate the game, and the whole segment turns into a discussion about DCE and the Roosters.
Barely a mention of the Warriors at all.
If the Roosters had done that to us it would be called a premiership statement. When the Warriors do it, apparently it’s just about what the other team did wrong.
Sometimes the better team just wins.

To be fair, it's a show made by Aussies for Aussies.

It'd be like someone complaining that League Lounge focuses on the NZ sides too much

Yippee. We'll get to pay for four different streaming services to watch our footy, now.

I can't wait.
I live in the UK and it's like that for football here now. If you want to make sure you can watch every game of your team you would likely need Sky, TNT, and/or Premier Sports depending on what comps they are in. Last season some EPL games were on Amazon Prime too.

For NRL, I think we get three or four games a weekend on Sky. It's never the Warriors. I think the Dolphins game will be shown live in a couple of weeks time. But I've got the Watch NRL pass which is like £143 ($328 NZ) a year. If I can't watch it live the delayed option is just the match, you get no pre-game, half time or post-match analysis. Now, I get NRL360 on that too, but as @1995warriorsfan says on the thread earlier on, they hardly care about us so I get hardly any in depth Warriors coverage if I miss a game live.

Everyone complains about sky, and they do have big flaws at times, but $60 to watch every NRL, Super Rugby, Internationals, EPL, A League, NBL, ESPN is really good value compared with almost any country in the world

Sky (over here) basically held a monopoly on NRL content. Yes, monopolies are bad, but in this case you'd only pay for one service and you got it all.

I'm also an avid NFL enjoyer and their system freaks me out. I think you have to surf 4 or 5 services to get all the games.

Bit of an end of an era for sportsfans in this country.

Ah ok. Over here you get quite a few NFL games on Sky, but DAZN has a NFL pass that gets you every game live. DAZN is proper US coverage, whereas the Sky stuff has in studio UK content which is dumbed down for audiences.

Remember as a kid back home you had Sky Sports and ESPN on the old UHF Sky and that was your lot. My Dad always used to moan about ESPN “why am I paying for this, who watches baseball in New Zealand” lol

Honestly, I think this is where the crux of it is. I think most people pay for sky to watch Super Rugby/NRL and ABs games, not a hell of alot else. I can see the argument for it being expensive at $60/month

I, on the other hand, watch NRL, AFL, NFL, Internationals, F1, Cricket plus whatever is on when my 5 month old is cracking the shits at 3am.

Great value for me.

Just pay to read the article then you won't need to pay for the four streaming services to watch one team play each weekend for 3/5ths of the year!

I would love to see a streaming service offer only NRL coverage at a more affordable price..

Theres not many suitors in New Zealand really though is there.
And only one with deep pockets. Sky.

Its Sky or Free to Air on TVNZ.

Or Australian streamers buying the rights to NZ and then trying to monetise the region.

Really I think it will be a negotiation of how much Sky have to pay.
