Not really naughty chair related but Zac Lomax and eels in court today at noon Aussie time. Will be interesting to see the verdict, all opinions seem to be that Lomax has shot himself in the foot and shouldn’t be able to join another nrl team without adequate compensation for eels, whether that be player related or monetary
A lot of talk that the Eels don’t want monetary compensation as it’s essentially useless from a roster/cap pov.
They lost a high calibre player that they are yet to replace, that’s essentially what they want in return. Problem being that you can force a player to move clubs.
Hard situation as I can understand the Eels standpoint- why should Storm be able sign a player that shouldn’t be available, yet NRL don’t want lomax to go to union either

I’ve had a hunt around for it but can’t find it again, but eels have put a picture out in some regard of Utoikamanu sending an eels player back in a tackle. He was one initially of interest and sounds like that’s who they’re keen on acquiring

I see that the NRL pundit class hasn't learned anything from last year. So many of them already writing us and the Raiders off again even for a finals appearance. IMO we are currently a top 6 team who can push for the 4 again if we are luckier with injuries. We've already got a top tier pack with plenty of depth. Just a class winger and center short of being a genuine contender. Replicating last year's finish surely is the minimum standard this year.

Raiders more question marks than us I reckon with Fogarty leading them around well

They got burnt the year before with all expecting we'd be in the 8 and even one predicting our first title on the back of RTS & Capewell's signings.
Was probably a big ask with a couple of new signings that they gel and RTS played in a position that didn’t suit along with time out of the game didn’t help. I can’t help but feel it was as much about an unhappy playing group with factors no longer at the club?

An interesting move for Fogarty.

The Raiders obviously have guys coming through and assessed his potential replacements. There would be some truth to the comments about him (Fogarty) in the clutch moments or big games. How much will they miss him guiding around the field? That will be the interesting part.
You need to get to the finals first in order to get under pressure in the big games.

Contrast Manly's need for him. I've seen comments that some players at Manly were frustrated last year, as they had a game plan and DCE wouldn't adhere to it, making it hard for their teammates. Having someone to guide them around the field may suit Manly's needs.
