NRL NRL Naughty chair

I haven't listened to the interview with Brandon Smith yet.

I hope he has sorted himself. Getting off the drink would help. The issues with the law last year would be a wake-up call.

A bit sceptical, seeing as he has talked about maturing and growing up in the past.

He needs to treat alcohol and gambling like he has an issue with both. Consider who he associates with, especially for the gambling.

An interesting move for Fogarty.

The Raiders obviously have guys coming through and assessed his potential replacements. There would be some truth to the comments about him (Fogarty) in the clutch moments or big games. How much will they miss him guiding around the field? That will be the interesting part.
You need to get to the finals first in order to get under pressure in the big games.

Contrast Manly's need for him. I've seen comments that some players at Manly were frustrated last year, as they had a game plan and DCE wouldn't adhere to it, making it hard for their teammates. Having someone to guide them around the field may suit Manly's needs.
Ethan Sanders seems to be the logical choice at raiders to succeed Fogarty but Coby Black is listed as a halfback there and regarded as on the cusp of nrl too. They’ve got some good competition for spots like we do, but I think their halfback and how he goes will dictate a lot? Similar for us whether Boyd or whoever copes to start the season and Metcalf’s health and ability to have as much impact as last year for us

They got burnt the year before with all expecting we'd be in the 8 and even one predicting our first title on the back of RTS & Capewell's signings.
The only way to truly change perceptions about our consistency is to make finals every year. 2/3 is a good start by Webby, but we need to make it 4 or 5/6 over the next few years like we did under Ivan back in the day. His years were the only time where we weren't hearing that old haggered trope about our inconsistency week after week. Even watching some old clippings from 2002, I had forgotten that even as minor premiers we were like 4.00 outsiders to beat the sharks in the prelim that year.

Winning the lot would help too.

I see that the NRL pundit class hasn't learned anything from last year. So many of them already writing us and the Raiders off again even for a finals appearance. IMO we are currently a top 6 team who can push for the 4 again if we are luckier with injuries. We've already got a top tier pack with plenty of depth. Just a class winger and center short of being a genuine contender. Replicating last year's finish surely is the minimum standard this year.
Aus consensus is essentially we will struggle to win until Metcalf comes back

He mentioned he’s 100+ days off alcohol, was pleasing to hear his team mates at functions also hold him accountable and won’t let him drink.
Have my doubts but he finally seems to get his job is a footballer but was a bit shocking to hear it’s only now he’s making sure he’s not late to training

Looks pretty lean in pictures I have seen too. I think he could be in for a good year.

Great to hear, is he also off the powder and the weeds?

Aus consensus may be right but it can still go F itself.

Tanah, Chitty and TMM and the youngsters are all a season older and have had another part pre season to get more cohesive and better.

Plus there's no controversial media rubbish happening like is it Galvin and Burton? Or where will Parra's want away winger land? Or did Cheese really finally grow up and cancel his membership of the poor choices club?

Just good old fashioned pre season sand dunes and who can kick the ball in the rubbish bin the best. Take that.....Aus consensus.

No jinxing mate!

Saw the news earlier.

He was always a favourite to watch.

You see a gunshot wounds and you get really worried.

This article has a bit more information. Says he might not have been the intended target. Was given a green light corridor to get him to the hospital as quickly as possible. Hopefully, that time saved helps.

A nine article I tried to post before but didn’t work talks about organised crime enforcement in attendance of the scene. I won’t say anymore than that not knowing circumstances. Think he was with his son?
