NSW Police have intervened in the relationship between NRL champion Jake Friend and his wife, applying for an AVO against the former Roosters player.

The former Roosters captain is due to appear in Burwood local court on Thursday for the case.

He has not been charged by police however they have applied for an AVO on behalf of his long-term partner.

Friend transitioned into a coaching role at the Roosters since his retirement leading the club’s pathway program.

He played 264 games for the Roosters before being forced into retirement because of repeated concussions in 2021.

He represented Australia and Queensland during his 14-year career.

The dummy half won three premierships at the Roosters and captained the club.

He was sacked from the Roosters in 2009 after a string of off field incidents but resurrected his career.

If it was a former Warrior would they list that? For Vatuvei I thought it was listed as ex league player.

Trans Tasman could mean an Australian living here or a player who was based in Australia while playing.

There is reasoning behind the wording. If they make it to specific, it could mean they breach the name suppression ruling.

They are serious chargers. Been through this a bit as an AC/DC fan when Phil Rudd when nuts a few years ago. Chargers of hiring a hitman to kill someone. That ended up with a lighter sentence than you'd expect from initial reporting. He is wealthy though and can likely afford better representation than an ex league player. It is still unknown on his travelling restrictions as he has been to Australia (born there and maybe still a citizen so different to Vatuvei) for Malcolm Young's funeral and Canada to record an album. He was going to tour but had an illness with a partner here in NZ.

The best thing on that case was pulling out the lyrics.
The Judge looked high and I looked low. When he smiled at me it was a one man show.
And the judges gavel fell, Jury found his guilty. Gave him 16 years in hell.

Or the band who have always just joked during interviews.
"In a band you always keep your eye out for the drummer. That's why I move around so much"
