The NRL has been made aware of an image allegedly posted by Gold Coast star AJ Brimson showing a Melbourne Cup-winning wager, next to what appears to be a bet on a rugby league fixture.

Brimson has deleted the story from his Instagram account, but screenshots of the post have been circulating on social media. The image appears to show Brimson winning a $100 wager placed on Melbourne Cup winner Knights Choice at $1010, for a collect of $10,100.

Below the wager appears to be another bet, which is obscured, prompting questions as to whether it may have been placed on a rugby league match.

Registered NRL participants, including players, are prevented from betting on rugby league matches under the game’s code of conduct.

The image has been brought to the NRL’s attention. The governing body is not currently investigating the matter.

In 2017, West Tigers centre Tim Simona was found to have bet on league matches. As a result, the NRL deregistered Simona over a range of breaches, including betting against his team winning and on opposition players scoring against his team.

Walsh on a collision course with Maguire regarding his nail polish
I dont think the nail polish will be a made a big deal of. The sunglasses in the dressing room and other standards will be though. I think Madge will be good for the club and players like Pat Carrington. Could be interesting with players like Walsh and Ezra

Thing is Maguire has made public comments like we’ll see about that nail polish and the like. I commented on it a while back, saying it came across as Maguire was simply out of touch with youth. The media will be watching as it’s a story for them whether Maguire wins and Walsh no longer wearing nail polish or Walsh still wearing nail polish, player power still strong at broncos. Those sorts of narratives. At the moment spew buckets is what the media have run with as far as news out of the broncos, this looks like it’s going to be next up

Did Madge actually say that he would make Walsh remove it or is that just media speculating?

Most likely media speculating that he won’t stand for it. Probably needs to declare he has no issue with him wearing nail polish if he wants or the media will continue with the narrative. I’m sure Maguire will have them primed to not let any distractions get in the way. Think the best way for Maguire to win Walsh over is to support Mam

I don't think he needs to win Walsh over. He just needs to have consistent standards across the team that are enforced.

It’s a very fine line, on one hand the game needs characters and you don’t want to stifle creativity/personality too much. On the other hand you don’t want things like this to become distractions.
Takes me back to the 01-04 Warriors with the likes of Toopi and Fa’afili raising so eyebrows with the game day hairstyles

Crikey... I thought the 'makeup ceiling' was smashed way back when Ma'a Nonu rocked the mascara while in the ABs. Surely not a hill Madge would choose to die on..?
