SHARKS STAR EMERGES AS SHOCK FREE AGENT

Cronulla prop Oregon Kaufusi has emerged as a shock free agent as the Sharks fight to keep the in-form front rower along with 10 other players who are ready to hit the open market on November 1.

Kaufusi has an option in his deal for next season that he is yet to take up. Sport Con was told his preference was to stay at the Sharks but it is believed there has been interest from elsewhere given his form this year for the high-flying Sharks.

Cronulla are also facing a remarkable salary cap situation as they are down the prospect of $5 million worth of talent hitting the market on November 1, headlined by the likes of Braydon Trindall, Briton Nikola, Cam McInnes, Ronaldo Mulitalo and Teig Wilton.

C'mon Cappy - Oregon & Mulitalo are waiting for the call.

Just read that the Broncos would like to sign Sam Walker but are struggling with the money side of things.

Surely you'd be willing to lose one or even two of Willison, Cobbo or Staggs for Walker. He's 22 and will be one of the best halves in the game for the next 10 years. If they're smart they'll go Walsh, Mam and Walker for the next 10 years....I think they'd be in for a few premierships in that time

They’ve been coy on that, denying it all the time. Crazy Walker and his agent think he’s worth $1.5 million a season. Think Walsh is after something similar too. He might actually have to sign for less as he advised others to do to afford that spine

Clarkeys League column reports he has since declined the option.

We would love to have him but cannot see how we could beat out Parramatta or Dragons who seem to have cash to splash on middles. Whispers too he could be heading to the Dolphins following the departure of Bromwich and TPJ.

It's better to let other clubs dabble with those in the rumor mill and snipe the best targets in Warriors style - announced when the deal is done.

Saw that Saifiti is going to the Dolphins, with Knights paying $200k of his $850k salary. Brailey is going to the Eels, and Tuala to the Dogs. Knights cap must be in a pretty bad way.
Yeah I reckon. Brodie Jones and Mat Croker offered to super league too. Had seen Mat Croker to tigers at one stage but haven’t seen it again since? Knights surely in for a halve too? Could see Jonah Pezet heading there being a junior from there?

Surely someone offers Te Whare a lifeline? These stats, solely at Centre in 2023, don't make bad reading. 3W-5L record as a starting Centre but the L's include Panthers, Broncos, Roosters & Knights who were all playoff bound

Because incompetent recruiting and no vision.

Storm back themselves to turn potential into results.
Storm are willing to wait for him to join in 2026 & he will probably then spend a year in reserve grade, like Warbrick, before being integrated into their top side. If we signed Leo he'd probably start in Rd 1 for us next season & if he wasn't an immediate success he'd be at a different club/code within 12 months.
Wnning has brought the Storm patience to do things like introduce converts correctly
