In Australia it's already there. There isn't enough money in the game to make it work yet
It’s an absolutely radical shift but better to do it now (using that loosely) before AFL does. There isn't enough money in the game to make it work yet
What is the problem that is trying to be solved by having a draft and is there a better solution? It’s an absolutely radical shift but better to do it now (using that loosely) before AFL does.
Simple incentives. Currently junior pathways and club development is done for the benefit of the singular cub. Moving to a university / draft would see it done to benefit the game as a larger entityWhat is the problem that is trying to be solved by having a draft and is there a better solution?
So who pays for the development, who does the development, who goes in the draft, how much do they get paid, is there a relocation fee, etc etc. it's a pretty complicated setup to unravel and redress.Simple incentives. A lot of people would disagree with the salary cap success and I am thinking there's probably a better way.So who pays for the development, who does the development, who goes in the draft, how much do they get paid, is there a relocation fee, etc etc. it's a pretty complicated setup to unravel and redress.
Seems like the cap is doing a good enough job IMO.
Youre asking questions like you cant just google the US models...So who pays for the development, who does the development, who goes in the draft, how much do they get paid, is there a relocation fee, etc etc. it's a pretty complicated setup to unravel and redress.

The US models are completely different to anything in Australia. And the other part is rookies in America get paid millions of dollars not a few thousand to relocate. The NBA has 20 player roster with a soft salary cap worth 100s of millions of dollars. They also have trades.Youre asking questions like you cant just google the US models...

None of this will ever get past the players associationSo is the draft.
and?
and?
introduces trades then.
Thats probably true. However money talksNone of this will ever get past the players association
The draft financial surplus exists because, not coincidentally, the owners of NBA teams have made sure to arrange the scale so as to systematically underpay playersThe US models are completely different to anything in Australia.
