NRL NRL 2025 General Recruitment Thread

The NRL need to come out and say under no circumstances will any NRL player be getting a contract release to join the shit Saudi Rugby comp. If say Cleary gets a $5mill offer, would be a massive fuck up.

All good if you have no contract, sign what you want.

I might screen shot that and take it to warehouse stationery to get it blown up and put on my wall.

Yeah that's about right. Hetherington was on something stupid like $400k, Elliott would be on $500k+. But the Knights have thrown $1.4m of that away on the stupid Brown contract. So have put themselves in a worse position IMO, because they have to have a bunch of cheap guys in the squad to balance the cap. Their depth will be shocking, and it's already poor.

Sandon Smith is a good signing though, but do they really think Brown is a 7? And where is Sharpe going to play? Was their best player this season.

Makes you wonder if something's coming with Ponga? Can't imagine they're going to be able to play them all at the same time

Xavier Coates set to sign a 1 year extension with Melbourne. Word is he will be the first signing for the new PNG team.

Charlie Staines signings with Catalans.

Tinos brother also joining the super league.

David Fifita will end up at Souths. This is why they’re so desperate to move Dodd on.

Mason Teague linked with Penrith.

Gehamat Shabasaki is on 80k this season and has multiple clubs chasing him offering over 450k a year. He will leave the broncos as they can’t afford to keep him

North Queensland Cowboys forward Griffin Neame has reportedly found himself on the radar of another team as he prepares to enter the open market.

One of 15 players at the Cowboys who will be free to negotiate and speak with rival teams from November 1, Neame has made it no secret in the past that he is prepared to test his value.

A six-time international for New Zealand, the 24-year-old is one of the best young forwards at the Townsville-based club, and although they would like to keep him, he is bound to attract some interest.

As reported by News Corp, he has become the latest player to find himself on the radar of the Perth Bears, who will enter the NRL competition in 2027 and can start speaking to players in less than two months.

Tyrone Thompson departing the Knights - should the Warriors sign him ?
Is he as good as Ale or Afoa?

Surely he's going to return to Rugby. I haven't seen him play, but he's 25 and has only had the 1 year in league hasn't he? Imo we have better prospects coming through so unless he was happy with a minimum contract, I don't think he'd be worth the project he'd be
