NRL NRL 2025 General Recruitment Thread

Sure, but just because they did him a favour, they dont own him. They arent even playing him so any story about keeping him is dogshit. This would be different if he was playing for min wage and someone offered more. But this reeks of not wanting others to play with your toys.

Find it hard to believe the eels cant find a 5th string winger
There has been rumours that Averillo may end up at eels, so there could be something going on there? If Simonsson was interested in going to a Queensland club, you’d think something could be done there? Dolphins not bad off for outside backs though. Think with Simonsson signed until 2027, there is a feeling of eels having the power with the length of that contract and are often looking for a player compensation to release the player. I’ve noticed Niukore’s name come up and fans would be keen to see him return as compensation. If we were to tell Niukore he won’t be extended past 2026 and would release him a year early, I reckon that would be the ideal scenario for us

Thats so hot

Thats so hot

if the rumours are true than he wants to finish his career on the Gold Coast where he as a business with his mate Harley Smith Shiels and using the and using the ole 'I want to play wing' arguement as an excuse

That’s the guts of it apparently

If he’s packing a sad then I guess we don’t want him. But a club paying a guy peanuts and also forcing him to play reserve grade whilst denying a release is pretty shit.
I look at Xavier Savage at the raiders and it wasn’t all that long ago that he couldn’t make the raiders team and at one point rumours he was being offered to other teams. Don’t think we’d offer Leiataua to other teams, but I wonder if there’s an element of us employing a similar tactic by sending him to work on a few things. It paid dividends for Savage and my hope is Leiataua comes back from another preseason with a real fire. Still think he’s a big part of our future at centre

Hopefully you're right but he does seem to be a bit weak around the ankles

Tino set to hit the open market on nov 1st. We were so close to signing him before covid struck….

Bears prepared to offer him $1.5 million per year, but it was Meninga and Ezra Howe who convinced him to join titans, so might not be so interested this time in following them? This is the one that can take our pack to the next level, but not for that kind of money
