GnR Welcome to the Jungle.Did they come out of the tunnel with that Alien Weaponry song. Couldn't hear it to well on the tv and sounded like GnR playing?
I prefer Alien Weaponary - more uniquely our thing...

Seems like we are making some poor changes.GnR Welcome to the Jungle.

The endlessMy mates and I were saying the same exact thing. Most was so cringe. They should at least get someone who knows what the hell they are doing. I don't mean a party MC person but someone who is actually been a fan for sometime and understands how the Mt Smart faithful do their chants. His chants were all off beat. Where do they find these people.
I didn't mind Nick and change can be good but this new guy is terrible. Hopefully he does some research from old fans on how to do it justice. Wish him well...
Yeah, you don't ever play the team victory song before they've actually won.Seems like we are making some poor changes.
Thought Alien Weaponry was great and uniquely ours. Something we could all get behind that was ours. Changing to a generic GnR track, while I love them is a bit tacky.
Changing from Nick Brown is a bit like getting rid of Michael Buffer from the boxing (ok maybe not that extreme) you've heard him so much but Nick had a good feel for the game and the crowd.
And if they played the winning song at halftime then they have lost the plot and are trying way too hard. It should be a special, unique thing. Experienced and enjoyed after a win. It becomes meaningless and gimmicky used to often and at the wrong times.
I thought last season everything was pretty well balanced. So far this season it is leaning more to cringe
I knew a guy who used to do ground announcing for the Hurricanes back in the day. He got the gig because he worked on radio. Didn’t give a shit about the sport. It sounds like someone who’s job is to her up a crowd at basketball. He also seemed to be at the Chch preseason game. Last night should be the last. It just jars with everything else they are getting so right!Must have been on the
You are spot on with this. Whoever organised this gig should be fired. They obviously don't know rugby league or the Mt Smart faithful. It sounded bad enough on TV but would have been worse live. Management apparently are still on holiday. The announcer was absolutely cringe material. I agree that the chants only work when they start organically in the crowd. What really made matters worse for me was when he was trying to start a Mexican wave...in the middle of the game. I HATE Mexican waves and am proud to say that they are hardly ever a happening at Mt Smart because generally us fans are there to watch the fkn game! Why would an announcer even try to start a Mexican wave???? It's not cricket or rugby union!
Cc cam George. He ain’t a hit with the crowd my guyRumour: That ground announcer is from The Hits , CHCH and is flown up for each game.
Plus …
He was hand picked by Cameron George !!!
Admittedly it does seem a little over the top we’re doing this, but it is frustrating in the sense that the organisation seems to be nailing everything so far, yet this is so far wrong it ain’t funny & needs to be addressed.I emailed the club last night and voiced
solid disapproval
Others should do the same
My email read
Please pass onto whoever needs to know but your/our ground announcer was cringeworthy and downright embarrassing and needs to go.
It is not just my opinion but you only need to monitor social media to see what fans think of him
Regards
A very disappointed long term season member
Mate, I generally don't like having a moan about ground announcers because I'm old and complaining about music and chat makes me seem even older. But I'm glad you started this thread because I reckon the Warriors had it about right the past couple of years - good mix of music, nothing too intrusive, a sideshow to complement the game. I thought this was another situation where I should just pull my old head in and accept that this is what the youngsters want. However, this new fella sounds like he thinks he IS the game. Either it's first-week exuberance that he needs to temper, or he's getting some seriously wrong advice.Nick Brown was getting a bit stale but that new ground announcer at Mt Smart is a shocker.
He needs to know when to keep quiet and I also hate somebody forcing a chant on the crowd.
"I say 'Let's get ready', you say 'to rumble'": that's some top-quality analogy work from you there.Seems like we are making some poor changes.

Sounds right, pretty sure he was at the Christchurch game too.Rumour: That ground announcer is from The Hits , CHCH and is flown up for each game.

I wasn't even at the game and I could hear the cunt!I hope this guy has really thick skin and can handle criticism
Then again you have to be a bit off the edge to do what he did ….
That is where CG saw him and basically offered him a job.Sounds right, pretty sure he was at the Christchurch game too.
This. This 100%.Yeah, you don't ever play the team victory song before they've actually won.
