Although I’m confident we can beat the dragons even with Metcalf, doesn’t seem logical to release him before that game. Would be much more satisfying to flog them on their home soil and then grant the release the minute that the game is over.
If I'm a Dragon's fan I'm grabbing onto anything that could be perceived as positive. Where is their first win coming from? Cellar dwellars usually jag a few wins, but no dice for the Dragons so far, and the scores aren't getting tighter.

If Luke wants out now, let him. I wonder what this means for Shane's boy Kyle? Bet he'll be the next to do the Ask For A Compassionate Grounds Release boogie...
They are desperate for a win and a 7 and Luke is desperate to play 7. Wouldn't be surprised to see him with their playing group at magic round this weekend.
It would make no sense whatsoever to release Metcalf this year. Our strength is our depth and we are sitting 2nd. We’d be one Boyd injury away from being in a very similar situation to last year.
Next year is fine as we can recruit with the money freed up but as things stand Metcalf needs to be around for the rest of season.
Webby would undoubtedly still be all class, but this is in regard to the Luke Metcalf that honours his contract for 2026. Time will tell what that looks like.

I would probably if I were the warriors let Metcalf go now for King Togia as compensation. He would give us enough halves cover.
My reason is that Luke's career is dissapearing quickly. The Sharks screwed by holding him for an entire season in reserve grade - I think we should do what is best for Luke.
Anyone else think we have dodged a bullet here. Hindsight is obviously massive, but I do find it odd that this guy pumps himself up as the go to guy who gets things done in big moments, yet at the same time doesn't have it in him to fight for a starting spot.

I disagree....he has thrown the club under the bus, especially considering how well the team is going. Where has he done what's best for the club? His management team have been leaking everything through the media.
Something has happened in the back ground for him to drop a bomb like this....even more funny is only one of the 18 other clubs put an offer to him.....one!!! And they are an absolute basket case club paying overs to get players....will only end poorly.
Only way we should release him now is with some form of compensation, which the dragons have nothing we want...

And could suffer a potentially career-limiting/ending injury at any stage. That was always the biggest risk. There was a bit of Russian Roulette about it all.
