Everyone talking about Metcalfs “ceiling” being higher is a weird one for me, he’s a year older than Boyd and objectively, both at their peak, Boyd looks the more natural 7, Metcalf has the xfactor but looked like a 6 or a 1 filling in at 7 imo.
Cons: kick returns, running at back
Pros: avoid front line contact on D and shuttle runs, lethal support play and 2nd/3rd receiver and play Ponga like, justifies salary, keep star status
Work ons: high balls, line D like Walsh, dive on ground before kick return contact
If I was coach I would want every player to also be fan of the game. To talk live and breath league. We all know that hasn’t been the case in the past. Too many casuals selected on pure talent and potential with no love for the sport.
My thoughts on Mets are that there's a big chance that he never gets back to his best friend
His biggest asset is obviously his speed off the mark and his speed is probably the first thing to be compromised by his injuries
Unfortunate because for a team to win the comp has to have his type of x factor. Boyd is going great guns but is not a game breaker at this point in time

Rumour overdrive at the moment regarding Metcalf, but have read on a couple of forums that they’ve somehow heard that Metcalf has been diagnosed with chronic ligament damage to his hamstring. This is the result of persistent overloading, poor healing, or incomplete rehabilitation of an acute strain.
Obviously take this with a grain of salt, but it wouldn’t surprise me given his poor run with hammy injuries.

Let's just facilitate his move to a new club and move on. A 27 year old who's only played 40 odd games due to injuries, with pace being his biggest asset, yet he has shot hammies? He's doing us a favour here.

Win/win for both parties if he can stick around for the remainder of the season & not be a destabilizing influence. No point paying him $1.8M across '27-'28 to be a back up.
If he was leaving for more money it'd be a different story but I just think his main driver is he wants to play regularly while he can. On top of injuries, he played bugger all in 2020-21 due to cancellation of NSW Cup comp. CNK & Erin Clarke once left us early for the same reason
