I'd happily lose him to compassionate grounds this week.

Sorry - but the reality is that he isn't going to be our main half for even 50% of his contract. Seriously, I like him and I'm not a knee jerk person - however, what have we seen that gives us any confidence that we are going to get value for money out of him?

I'm a 'give everyone a go' and 'fairy tale' type of dude - but seriously... this isn't it. It sucks for him, but it also sucks for us. It just isn't meant o be.
Could not agree more! I said this before we signed him. How can we give him a huge upgrade when he's shown he can't even put a full season together.

Luke still has the annoying habit of running then stopping dead in his tracks to kill momentum and the backline line. Did it again today. Cross field running then stopping to change direction. What’s with that ????

Hopefully it’s only a minor injury but his body is trying to tell him something
I have always been an advocate for him but I now doubt we will ever see the best from him again.
Unfortunate for us fans & as a club as a whole. What could have been?
He will be absolutely gutted

If this one doesn’t force him to have some hard decisions, the next one definitely will if it happens. Would imagine he’s in a pretty dark place at the moment, hopefully mum and his small child are giving him all the support he needs

Just pulling back on my negative focus on Metcalf for a bit.

His main weapon is his speed. Not his organisation.

He was never going to get that back, straight off the injury.

Yes, he was cleared to play.

But he should have definitely had some time in NSW just to get into the swing of things and adjust whatever he needs to.

Imo, he would do well if he was a roaming half, ala SJ/Maloney.

You can't build a team around him, as his injuries are very much concerning and it only seems to get worse when he tries too hard.

It's a tough one. The guy is very talented. I do like him and it's a long season, so we may see him get back into the swing of things. It's just tough when you've got CHT sitting on the bench, who alleviates a lot of defensive pressure up the middle and has some creative flair going for him.

Pretty rough calling out the club for extending Metcalf after the trash Boyd dished out for 3 months last year?

Now Linnane is not looking good either, TMM broken leg again, and Jett, Thompson and Inch are not ready

The next month will probably determine if Boyd and CHT get extended and how much of an upgrade

Metcalf went from practicing 7 and clearly told he'll be back at 7 because most of us probably thought we'd be 1:6 by the time he returns and play savior, it went the other way 3:0 topping the table and his return coincides with 2 bad losses and he pulls his hammy. Life eh.

Ps each campaign is different I think 2026 it should be about him getting his body and mind right and prepare to play supersub at the end of the season, and start again fresh and healthy for 2027, it's actually what's best for him

I think Webby always knew he had 2 or 3 games up his sleeve in terms of having a winning record. Knowing the draw get’s easier after the storm game. He had to integrated Metcalf into the team and form a combination with Tanah. And what’s the worst that could happen he get’s injured well you have the backup’s this year where the team should be fine until he get’s back.
