Dragons vs Warriors - [Round 10, 2025]
GAME DAY

WIN Stadium, Wollongong, Sydney

Warriors v Dragons 850.webp

Welcome to your NZWF game day thread for todays clash.

UP THE WAHS!!!

Need to avenge last years game where it felt like they basically buried our season, even though it was early days

It was such a soul-less performance, no celebrations, no smiling, body language was off - and we got punished after SJ scored.

This group seams like a team willing to go to war for each other. 2023, as good as it was, wasn’t even like that as we relied on our stars a bit more heavily.

Warriors 1-12

I think many of us have scars from this game last year. It was truly the beginning of the end of our season when one looks back. Hopefully this year, we can look at this game as the beginning of something truly beautiful.

Formula for this is simple. Win the middle. Their pack is littered with inexperience with Couchman up front, Egan in the second row and Hamish Stewart at lock. Their more experienced players (Klemmer and De Belin) are in horrible form. So they are for the taking. If we own the ruck, as I believe we will, we nullify their supposed advantages on the edges.

Capes has already proven the doubters wrong once, hope he does it again.

Yep scars from that flogging last year are real.

If we are a genuine threat this year, we put these guys to the sword today despite our outs.

Going to 7-2 and seeing the Broncos and Knights losing gives us a three win buffer in the top 4. That’s pretty amazing. Dogs v Raiders. cows v panthers and eagles v sharks all benefit us, esp if raiders panthers and eagles win!

Last year is a memory I want wiped. I never want to see us start so well and then get destroyed up front. This years time I think is a different beast and should pile the pressure on the dragons who have demonstrated weakness when the pressure comes in thick.

That said, I see starting line up changes. TMM will start at fullback - no point having him on the pine twiddling his thumbs. We need our forwards to beat their us so we need power.CNK into centre to shore up the right hand side defence and Pompey back to the left to support TT.

Marata back to Prop with Ford to bench and Capewell back to right Edge.

It’s about time we gave the Flanagan Supplement Corporation a flogging and buried them at home. These guys are grubby. I’m hopeful for a game like the Kinghts - we start well and don’t give them a sniff, never looking like losing.

Wahs to win by 13+, limiting the dragons to under 12 points. My prediction? 32-10 Wahs.

Game 2 on our extended roadtrip. Let’s eat.

I don't think this happens. TMM is backline cover as the usual cover (Capewell) is already there.

Nearly identical lineup to Broncos game.

Keep playing the same level we have been then im confident of the win.

However as this comp has repeatedly shown a favoured team only has to be 5% off their game for anyone to beat anyone. So no given for sure.

Im also hoping for a repeat of our last weeks first half attack. As much as some may not be worried about our zero points differential there's currently 8 teams below us within 4 points, and 5 of them have a better differential than us which means if start dropping a few games we can fall down that ladder fairly fast.

Whichever team dominates territory here should determine this one. The Tigers exsposed the Dragons edges last week, and their definitely susceptible to off the ball shape being thrown at them.

Lets bank the points boys.

Been wet in Sydney so might be slippery and suit our middle focused defence game. It’s been hard to win at the Gong for us over the years except for 23. Cold Easterly straight off the sea. Lots of warriors fans from Sydney will make the trip down though. Jackson Ford the local boy to score a try. Suuli to be contained by CNK. Clark, Barnett and Jake the Muss to beat up their middle forwards. DWZ spectacular in the corner. Warriors by 6.

Dragons podcast was laughing at us for playing Ford in the middle. Hope he proves them wrong today. He's been solid so far this year, other than a few games where he's had bad handling errors.

Capewell to have a blinder at centre to edge him into the maroons team. Didn’t think I’d be saying that this year, but he’s actually been playing pretty well in comparison to the other Maroons backrowers.
I don't think that is saying much given how poorly the QLD sides are performing atm. Other than Nenai, I can't really think of any other QLD backrower in form.
