I thought we looked our best against the rabbits with TMM at 6
He wasn't unlocking his edge that game by memory though. More by memory he, TMM, made a contribution by backing up CNK and Egan on ruck area busts into the back field.

He and SJ’s support plays were huge in that one but CNK didn’t have the same breaks in this one. Play obviously came his way because RTS and Montoya had big run metres in that one and he scored a great individual try close to the line last week. Looking at stats on this one, centres stats weren’t bad but back 3 defensively were poor. I wonder if Flanagan identified our wingers are prone to jamming in?

Learning the hard way that you have to improve in the offseason.

This season looks a lot tougher than last year already.

Dragons, Tigers, Dogs, Manly, Cowboys are all much improved sides. The margins between the top 4 and the sides sitting around 8-12 are not going to be large. They're finding out that turning up against these sides and playing half decent is no longer going to cut it - have to be near your best every week.

I see us more in that 8-12 conversation to be brutally honest. And given the number of injuries I think this season will turn into a bit of a dog fight to make the 8.

SJ first try absolutely no celebration other than a hug from AFB

Tells you a lot about the teams mindset.

Look at all the Dragons tries. Whole team pours in to celebrate
Pretty much, we were smashing them in the first 20. SJ scores, and the boys think it’s over. Unfortunately, their bench came on and pretty much smashed us.

Of all the positives of Webby, the way he uses our bench and the selection process behind it. Has me scratching my head sometimes.

Geezus that goal line drop out that didn’t go 10 then RTS grabs the ball when it looks like it will roll over… omg….

Watching a replay. We did some really dumb stuff.

Full credit to the dragons. They got some luck with their kicking. And they wanted that game. Everyone had written them off.

We didn’t play THAT bad
- Dragons got some luck and just wanted it more and it showed

The run metres people have posted for our two back rowers is interesting. A few things with this.

We didn't seem to be dumping the ball off to one of them as a setup play.

The start of the game we really worked over their middle. Mainly through our front rowers, Tohu and the outside backs. The amount of metres we would have been making per set would decrease later as the Dragons had momentum and the game wore on. You would expect the guys to come and and look for some work.

They are pretty staggering stats.

I sure a few of our guys are struggling with injuries and because of the big list already are forced to playing instead of time off.
I presume other teams are the same
Looking at SJ and Tohu DWZ Capewell for starters
TMM had his arm strapped similar to Egan.

We know Egan had the incident in round one which is still bothering him.

Ok this gonna annoy a few

RTS really is a fullback playing in the wrong position

That shimmy step on attack is deadly close to the line. But its not effective at Center position

CNK doesn’t have a step. His go to move is simply barraging into the opposition. He runs very straight lines. Knows how to draw a man and pass. I can see him doing better at Center that RTS….

that miss from DZW to let Sloan score was bad.. just as bad as the dropped ball from SJ right on the dragons line… just dumb shit and a lack of concentration by everyone… smh

Johnson had been good at getting the ball to go 10. Last year it was more of a risk as if it didn't work out it most situation it was a penalty. I can understand Johnson's frustration of it not breaking the 10 metres and letting his team mates down. His success rate has been great though as it has got to the point it hasn't seemed like a risk.

RTS grabbing it was a case of someone not knowing the rule change. Can understand Johnson's and later RTS's frustration as it could have bounced over if he left it.

For a side that has seemed a lot smart than we traditionally have been. We have made better decisions the last year or so. Last night seemed really off.

A loss is always tough. We do need to remember there is another side as well. The Dragons soaked up our start and then got on top and never let up. Was some of it lucky, maybe but they did what we have been doing. Get to the play so if something happens you are a chance of capitalising.

In past years after a loss I have posted the two most critical errors and called them turning points that changed the whole game. This game had so many errors by the warriors including a staggering 4 piggy back penalties in the first half that were all deserved. I don't know where to begin naming a turning point. We played like a rabble and not a team. They played like a team. We started like a team but when things started to not work around the 20 minute mark people gave up and tried to do it all themselves
-Hero bar turn overs in the tackles on the Dragons
- Solo efforts on tries which required stepping through at least three players sometimes more.
Nobody trusted anyone. Maybe we were too psyched for the match and wanted to win so badly we didn't trust our own team mates so wouldn't pass to one another.

I will make two posts in a row. I am starting to think we were too amped for this game. And the team wanted to win too badly.

We started to really thump the St George players in tackles to dominate them including trying to physically dominate face down prone St George players who had already been tackled and hence giving away a penalty for excessive carry on in the ruck. We had four instances of this. Maybe we did that as were just overly amped beyond what is optimal. It was like we played with red mist in our eyes the whole game long.

Fuck I can’t imagine flying to Australia and back every second week and playing a game of NrL in between.

And before anyone starts with the “trying working 60 hours on the tools” bullshit, im
Just saying it must suck flying so fucking much. Especially being big humans in cattle class. I’m 6’5 and I hate nothing more than flying. It’s absolute torture for me and takes a few days to recover. Imagine having bung knees or sore backs etc and having to sit in tight seats for 10 hours every second weekend.
