I don't know why there isn't room for both Egan and Robson. Robson can start and then later in the game bring Wade on to put on some finesse to kill off Queensland in the final stages. But the origin chatter seems to suggest that they will opt for Connor Watson again as the bench hooker.
Robson is the incumbent from a winning series and form is decent, so no way he isn't first picked.

Watson offers more versatility than Egan, who is an out and out hooker.

With our injury list & record at WIN stadium, that was a seriously good effort to come away with the 2 points. To win back the momentum late & hold on for victory was superb. This team is starting to not know how to lose!

Re DWZ, I get the rustiness excuse, but seriously isn’t that just his game - great finisher, but dropped balls & poor defensive reads is what he’s delivered for his entire career isn’t it? Does he make a fully fit backline? We’d lose some speed, but I don’t think he does.

Give him one more chance. Last night was particularly bad even by his standards.
That said there was one good play he did that was subtle and may have escaped observation.

He had a break away opportunity and we all remember he was tackled easily by Dylan Egan at the 30 metre line.
What you might also like to know is that Egan showed Dallin the side line and dared DWZ to skin him on the outside down the touch line. Our whole team including Dallin were exhausted to so Dallin very wisely avoided going for a highlights reel try and he cut back inside away from the chance of being bundled into touch and accepted the bone crunching tackle. As a result we got 6 tackles to have a breather and 6 tackles where they were not attacking us.
He also had reasonable ball security in a game where the Dragons had either been practising just for us or it is their modus operandi in 2025 to strip or subtly strip the ball every single freaking tackle attempt.

Stoked to be winning but can’t help but feel we are riding our luck thin.
We’ve had a few long term injuries to key players and I was hoping we could tread water and limit the damage as much as possible until the troops came back- on that front we’ve exceeded expectations.
Whilst it’s great to be getting wins whilst not really putting in complete performances the challenge now is taking our game to the next level with the reinforcements coming. Have laid a platform to have a great season just need to kick on now

Speaking of Dylan Egan - is he Leka’s main opposition for rookie of the year?

Although looking back the penalty goals essentially won us the game, they still irk me somewhat. If this weekend has taught us anything, the new rules re six agains, etc means that there will be violent momentum swings in any game, no matter who we are playing against. Given this new equilibrium of each game being a tale of two halves, it's imperative to maximize points when we are dominating the territory. We were doing exactly that, absolutely pounding the dragons pack into the ground and winning contact in all the tackles. The game ends up being different imo if we end up being 18-0 ahead instead of 14-0 after Leka won the challenge. We could have gone on with it in the second half. Same thing happened last week when we decided to go 30-12 up, instead of try for 36-12 by going for the try instead. Last 2 weeks could have been 13+ wins if we had stepped on the throat of the cows and dragons instead of the safe option.
