Pick Your Team Dolphins v Warriors - [Round 11, 2025]

Interesting point bro, who's the stats man to analyse tries scored on that side? From my eyes there seems to be a drop off in the last few weeks. CNK bombed one by not passing to DWZ, but without the stats it seems you may have a point about Capewell's present affecting our attack. I also felt DWZ's defence was a bit shaky on the edge (It just didn't feel as good when the other teams were trying to go around us).
I don't want to come off as blaming capewell completely for the lack of attacking shape on his edge. He made a very nice line break at the beginning of the game and his contesting of bombs earned us several six agains that contributed to our territory domination in the first half. As you say, there are mitigating factors that contributed to reversing the momentum. I think we should also acknowledge that we've been very unlucky with injuries within both games. In that last game, we were at a 1 man bench at one point after Ford and Bunty were ruled out and Marata was in HIA. Without those things happening, we probably do a better job of handling the momentum shifts.

Without just calling capewell a bum, it’s probably expected the defense will be worse with him there. At the 4 man hes job is really just protecting the half from the second rower, centre is way more difficult with the main point of attack being either between the centre and the half or the winger and centre.

an aging non-specialist centre would struggle, really we need Ali or Berry back to fill that spot. All in all hes done well but I think its telling both cowboys and dragons had luck down going down his side with different wingers.

Well explained .Centre is probably the hardest position to defend especially for a make shift older guy with new wingers

Capewah has been a legend lately
Still remember that break down sideline against Broncos
He has the club at heart
That’s all that matters right now
We got no centres with his attitude bruv👏👏👏
Same D against the Fins
Stop Herbie Hammer
Take no dummies from Nikorima flatin him

I get the feeling that magic round took a massive toll on us.

We just looked to be holding back and with the current state of gameflow, you have to be scoring 30 or more in the first half if you are focusing on defensive gameplans in the second.

Fully understand that we may be looking to pace our run until later in the season, but man it makes for rough viewing.

I feel like I need the bye - the last run of game have been exhausting. Can only imagine how the players are feeling.

Gonna take the family to the game on Saturday, does anyone know which bay the warriors supporters will be?

Apparently those who are responsible for memberships/ticketing at the warriors have contacted the dolphins to get a designated away bay sorted, but to no avail. Your best bet is to join the Warrior Nation group on Facebook as they are our Aussie based fan group and will be the first to notify everyone about away days.

Feel like there is no winning when picking the backline this week.

With Rocco and Ali out, I feel like you've got to have Taine in there somewhere. But with the full-back three finally all available, they should really be playing in their full-time positions rather than throwing RTS or CNK at the centre to make room.

Yes 100% this

At Magic Round we were in 333 but it may not be the same this week

A few raising concerns about fatigue and a pending loss. I think that game actually just happened and we got away with it.
Against the Dolphins, Rog, DWZ and Fish coming back brings a lot of energy and freshness. Plus as Webby said the boys will be quite disappointed with that game. I am expecting the bounce back factor against the Dolphins and counting ourselves lucky we didn't cop a loss to learn that lesson.

Will we win? No idea, they are a good team. I do think we will play well regardless however.

I think we will 100% drop one or both of the bunnies and Sharks game

I understand everyone's concerns about fatigue and how this game might be a perfect storm in many ways because i) we are due a loss, ii) we are away from home and iii) we keep getting out of jail. But everything is relative. Fatigue is impacting every team in the nrl this year and I'm not convinced that we are anywhere near the worst impacted. Our injury concerns are nothing compared to Souths for example. Dolphins are yet to have a bye.

The dolphins too have been playing with a severely depleted pack for much of the year. Any deficiencies they can exploit with our makeshift backline we can make back in spades by exploiting their traditional softness in the middle. We have a clear edge in the forwards this week even if Saifiti comes back. Teams that have beaten the Dolphins this year have bashed through the front door (ie Roosters and Canberra the last 2 weeks). That's our blueprint for this game and we are more than capable of replicating it.

The return of Fish is going to be massive. In many ways, the fact that we are 4-0 without Fish might suggest his return might not be impactful. But I think it's the reverse: his intensity, both on and off the field, is rubbing off on all the players, especially our younger forwards. With him on the field alongside Barney, I think we're going to be better in the 40-60 min period where we have lost our way in the last 2 games. DWZ with another week under his belt is going to be better and provide more energy out of the back. RTS will also be looking to make an impact on his return. In short, we'll have plenty of fresh energy coming back into this side.

No game is easy in the nrl, but I'm going to back the boys to continue the streak this week and make it 5 in a row going into the Raiders clash. In general, I think the Dolphins best chance is if they blow us away at the start with their raw pace. If we are able to turn this into a close, grinding affair, I think we win this. We are the kings of clutch this year. We've done well closing games out even if we still have momentary lapses leading up to the final quarter.

more likely the sharks game. I can't see us losing to the bunnies- they should still be quite depleted by the time we play them whereas our backline injury concerns might be resolved by then since one of Berry/Ali could be back by round 13.

Dolphins are a bit like the temu storm, or cowboys, one of the few teams that like to play wide and free rather than a panthers-webby-ciraldo grind 'em down.

i think you want more pace in the backline rather than less, which probably means roger playing center, even though he wasn't that good at it last year - and who knows what could happen with him and DWZ next to each other - its the least disruption. They will score on us, but we can score on them. Another nail biter no doubt.

I'd love to see Fish coming in for Barney at the 30min mark and they both finish together for the last 20-25min.

I'd rather one of the two on the field at all times. We tend to struggle defensively for periods of the game when our experienced middles are all off, which webby seems to do around the 30-60 minute mark. The game against the cowboys is case in pt where our disintegration coincided with Barney and Clark being both off at the same time. We stabilized as soon as we got them both back on.
