Watched the 2nd Leka try again. Fish looks slow to get up. Watch it. The marker was crunching his hand under his boot. Dirty play and typical grubby rubbish from a losing side.
I saw him grab his hand and look at Starling and knew straight away what had happened. JFH even approached the ref about it I think?

I get the feeling Boyd is a little of an introvert. Coming to NZ and the Warriors may have been a bit outside his comfort zone. It looks like the team have warmed to him and he is starting to open up a bit. The finger in the air after the 20/20 is a positive sign of that IMO
Nailing moments is huge for his confidence and also being part of a team that has that thing

I just met @WA Warrior at our local Woolies here in Perth. Proudly wearing his Wahs jersey! Now, Had to tag him and show him my shorts aren't Canberra Raiders! Cos he was probably thinking this kient talking about the wahs win wearing raiders shorts! 🤣🤣

My daughter brought me these LA Raiders and LA Dodgers basketball shorts from CultureKings. Not even realising the colours i was wearing. So don't come at me ok 🤣🤣View attachment 16270

Wearing Green with Raiders on them. Ban him.

Yeah Healey ignored TB and Egan and went wider. For all his passing issues i love the kid brings impact and has the confidence to go out there and make something happen. That is exactly what we need in our bench utility.
I can't believe we are at this point. All these players I love. We have the best forward pack in the comp, once Barney comes back the best prop rotation and most certainly the best bench....how good!

To be fair he did choke a simple conversion and last week, right in front missed a penalty. That choke gene is still there hidden in the depths of his conscience

But he was riding the wave of confidence thanks to forward momentum of our pack.
Canberra were struggling to get back I'm actually alittle surprised Egan couldnt capitalise on dummy half runs the way Healey did.

Two things I would say about the choke gene.

First of all it is over stated in as much as Boyd and Metcalf have similar pretty poor Kicking stats as far as career averages go, both are below 80% Boyd = 78.82% Metcalf = 75.00%.

Metcalf's brief 2025 he was running at 66%.

The solution is pretty obvious, Metcalf kicks when he comes back since he is still learning and therefore he might just need time to surpass Boyds season averages - since Metcalf has proven that pressure kicks don't phase him much.

And or the Warriors need to find another kicker from within and potentially even another Kicking coach because whoever has the job (Used to be Halligan? is it still Daryl?) is not closing the deal with this crop of kickers....

I thought that was a very good win against a very good opposition.

I may be becoming a boring old fart but something happened. In that game that hasnt been mentined. Our young bench and Ali performed well. There was total effort. What hasnt been mentuined as young players they pkayed within the team structures and had minimal errors. To me that is very encouraging moving forward.

Yeah he’s still got that arm grabbing problem

Needs to lean in lower and not expose his torso for a fend , stay light on his feet and not reach or plant his foot too early. I know from +20 years experience watching nrl 😂

Exhibit A) NSW cup GF, skip to 50 seconds in

You might have joked about 'watching NRL' but this is exactly why I have always said that you do not have to play a sport to understand it (it helps to understand but sometimes it gets in the way too by giving you cognitive bias based off your league days).

He stands still and ball watches (the toes the toes the toes - plant big toe, little toe and go)

He could improve a lot with boxing, especially skipping but NZ is hardly the country of dancing boxers.

The fastest way to train your feet is to do Ballet lessons eh, those fookers are the Grand Masters of Big toe Kungfu - imagine having the toe strength to go aerial off one toe....wow they are impressive athletes man, I hate ballet but their grace, power, speed, and balance is sick.

Then exactly as you say he does not lead with the shoulder he arm grabs (people put this down to confidence, that is not quite what is going on, it is fear).

Webster got Ali to make the first tackle of the game this week. We all know that trick-it is a variation on "get your hands on the ball early" and from that little Master stroke by Webster Ali was engaged in the defence.

But because he is a slack arse, he did not chase the kick off on every set like Berry - but hey, I am not here to criticise a player that is improving, I am delighted for him overall. I said last week I wanted him to play the first six rounds of NRL this season after how bad he was last week.....
