📝 Summary:

Warriors fans express frustration over their team's performance and officiating after a heavy loss to the Bulldogs, with significant debate around referee decisions seen as biased or inconsistent. The impact of injuries on team depth emerges as a key theme, with several users #57 #105 noting the absence of key playmakers like Metcalf and Barnett has exposed limitations in attack and squad rotation. Despite concerns about missing the top eight, some members #57 #69 maintain perspective on the season's developmental value amid the setback.

Has there been any other incident in the NRL this year where a player has been shouldered to the head & the ref doesn't give a penalty because "he lowered his head into his shoulder"?

For goodness sake we see head shots because a player is slipping and the pen is given and the slipping mitigates the actions of the defender but never exonerates him but last night it became the fault of the attacker

The Warriors are renowned for uncovering rules that don't exist.

But many around here refuse to be honest that there is a ref problem in the NRL for the Warriors. They think it makes them objective. Which is ironic when head shots on Warriors have at multiple times in this comp been ignored.

According to some there is no such thing as a cheat or a human being with bias once they put a Whistle in their pockets. According to some here a crook cannot get a job in their beloved narrative. Apparently the Refs become holy men when they put the uniform on and have no human frailty ever, apparently every single Ref that has ever existed and ever will exist for the next ten thousand years is going to be honest and without prejudice.

Someone should call a meeting at the next United Nations gathering and propose that the entire body be replaced by Australian Rugby League referees because they are Fkn perfect human beings and all world conflicts will end tomorrow and have fair and just outcomes for all.

Webby couldn’t afford to have two choking halves against the dogs

It was so obvious their strategy was to intimidate CHT and it worked. Kikau was hunting him down all night and absolutely smashing him whenever the opportunity presented itself. Everyone knows CHT chokes under pressure. After the Knights game everyone also knows Boyd is a choker too. The only option was to play TMM.

Mistake playing TT . Wet weather negates his speed. You needed CNK back there and maybe even Kosi on the wing. Size in wet weather Andrew. I told you that in the team list thread!

DWZ - needs to cut his hair or something. The gig is up and everyone knows he can’t defend. Two more seasons ?? Pretty sure there are talks right now to shift him to SL.

I feel sorry for our forward pack. They are the engine room. Ford Clark Egan Capewell the rookies, Barnett, JFH You can skip Marata though. Our forward pack for their size has fronted week in and week out. They have put their body on the line. Hold your head high boys

Unfortunately our backline just isn’t good enough. RTS is the only saving grace. I am not completely sold that Mecalf would have compensated for all the gaps we have. Million bucks a year!!?? Stop dreaming !! He can’t do one season…

CG better get on his phone and start making calls to replace that backline or we’re screwed again next season

I heard Sexton was in NSW Cup. Give him a call. He’s got the mongrel a great kicking game and doesn’t choke.
Good observation there on CHT getting bullied.
Thats why Des dropped Boyd from Titans 1st side.
Maybe Webby knew about that and parked Boyd for the week.

I had just been thinking how ineffective CHT was and your comment plus the early exit of TMM explains it.

If this is in regards to the tackle on Vaimauga. He appeared to get hit in the head twice which made the call even worse.

I'm not sure if there have been any calls about lowering into a tackle. Maybe the odd one but then I'd assume the actual contact wasn't that bad.

We hear more that the tacklers have a duty of care for the ball carrier.

Yes, conditions were tough but it should have been dealt with on the field (at least a penalty) and the judiciary can look take the conditions into account later when it is examined in more detail. Now it's probably not even going to be talked about.

Good points kos.
Can't wait for some of these young halves to come through and Metcalf to get back on track.
The rest are not true nrl standard halves and we aren't going to recruit anyone.
Complicated by our forwards not going forward.

Once again you’ve completely misinterpreted what others have posted.

We weren't losing before he got HIA'd
Pretty harsh off the back of being knocked out early. So far this season he has asked to play virtually every position in the backline and some in the forwards.

100% and I'm not calling him out, but there's been a few occasions where he could have pushed his case for being our half but he's always mr invisible

Reffing aside, some of the same things keep popping up.

It's a heavy rain game, so what does that mean? We need heavy forwards and heavier backs.

Taine, I love. Not in this game. CNK to FB, get Kosi to the wing (if not injured I don't know)
Lussick is too small, Healey to start.
Boyd to start because heavy rain and slick field usually means it's tight in the forwards and kicking game is too important.
Marata is a big body, should have been at prop and Leka to be at edge.
TSS is too small, Ale should have been in his spot.

I feel like these are lessons that should have been learnt from previous games/years but they still rearing it's ugly head.
Facts.

There was a good commentary about how the season isnt too long, coaches are just terrified of using their top 30 and will just play the same 17 no matter what.

I dont see why we cant mix it up, especially when we are so badly hit by injury.

Once people know you choke the gig is up. Boyd, CHT and DWZ are the chokers in our backline. Any half decent coach can see this and will attack them … until they choke. They tested it on TT and found the kid has zero choke genes. Smashed time and time again but gets back up and is happy to run into a brick wall if needed. TMM is another one with zero choke genes. Webby knows it. Metcalf also zero choke. He relishes pressure situations. The same with SJ. Lives for these moments. This is why Webby thought he found the perfect replacement for SJ. Metcalf isn’t skillful. Hes clunky. But that you can teach. Attitude you can influence. But clutch genes. That’s a rare gift..

CHT - sorry mate. You can mask your fragile insecurities with the odd feel good shoulder tackle but the pack are coming for you …. Kikau made sure of that last night

Our Kikau equivalent was supposed to be Marata…. I question whether he’s a bit of a choker also 🤷🏻‍♂️

You know that's incorrect mate. He literally stood up last season for us at 7. If that was Metcalf last season putting up those performances you'd be calling to pay him two million a season. The going was super tough heading in to magic round and he got stuck in and led the team to 6/8 wins and two losses by the narrowest of margins. This season the coach has made the calls to play him at 14 which I disagreed with but it's actually worked out fairly well with the in game injuries we have had. Moving him to 7 was the right call but wrong game IMO. Should have given Boyd another shot given the conditions. If we can get a similar team named for the last three games with Egan in there we will be in a good spot I think - people seem to forget how good Egans service from dummy half is to the halves play as well.

That why I said THIS season. We are in dire straits and I havent seen anything from TMM.

The bar for TMM is so much higher than Boyd, as we know his limited ceiling. I'm not convince about Egan lately either, hopefully its a case of playing injured. But as a senior player and key member of the spine, he hasn't been carrying the extra burden much.

I am curious why Ale hasn't been given a run in the side. I do think some players are carrying injuries as well.....but are pushing through due to the number of injuries in the squad.
Tom and Bunty are playing well enough in cup. A controlled professional type of game. I watched Ale yesterday spent half his time at prop half at lock. He is like a lesser version of Erin. Both of them are probably playing controlled games because finishing up this year they both dont want to get injured.
Both of them would go better than the likes of Marata and most definitely TSS.
But Webster just wont pick them and we just have to accept it-as fans the selection is outside our control.
I have warmed to Jackson Ford he plays his guts out -Erin and Jacko were our best last night.

He literally killed it in cup and then Webby has played him at 14 covering multiple positions, sometimes even in the same game. Not sure what else he could do?
Thought he played well last weekend starting at 6. Each to their own and no point rehashing the same discussion that's been had already.

I think that we probably get beaten next week against the dragons and if AW gets his selections right and has TMM at 7 for the last three regular season games we will see the team go well.

Apologies if I didnt qualify it as this season.

And you cant be happy about last weeks performs surely?

Yeah I’m on your side with TMM mate but seriously fuck with NSW Cup like it means something… NSW Cup Kosi and Boyd are superstars which tells me all I need to know…

Celebrating that we won the NSW Cup is cringe beyond belief…

You mean last week where everyone was saying we should get smashed by 50? Where we actually created space for our outside backs to score? Where we didn't have forward dominance or Egan's control around the ruck? Where we were 30 seconds from an unlikely win? Certainly a lot happier than losing to the C Panthers team at home.
