Pick Your Team Bulldogs v Warriors - [Round 23, 2025]

Fair enough, but he’d do the same work at fullback if not more. And he’d be involved in those critical areas, like when we’re attacking in the opps 20, he’s far more dangerous out the back than Taine and CNK. There’s this idea that he can’t ball play, he can and his passing selections are on too.
Taine, Kali, Dwz, Kosi to fill the wing spots would prefer Tauapiki right, Kali left
Maybe preseason but crazy to do that now

Did Leka look injured to anyone else at the end of the game?
It might be worth resting a couple of injured players for this game. Let them recover for our run at the finals. We will probably need two more wins.
Bro he was literally lying on the ground injured during the last passage of play that lead to the winning try. Ref didn’t even stop the game the slimey prick

Going against the grain but I think we can win.

And I am not drinking from the glass half full cup here.

I genuinely believe that Webster can win this game.

Saw enough of his brilliance against the Dolphins to see how that can be applied against the Dogs.

The Second phase ambush was very clever - I said Webster could pull the trigger in the lead up, few probably took that seriously (It came to me on game day that we wouldn't get out of our thirty without Props and that Webster would know this, his whole Webster ball starts with leg speed through Prop forwards).

Against the Dogs Webster knows that we have to have a conventional boring Webster ball platform. It is what the Dogs do not like - in the same fashion the Phins do not like second phase and ball movement.

But here is where Webster has a conundrum, with all our experience missing, the Dogs are gonna win a marathon tennis rally in the end.

So he has the options of either bringing in the offload again (Risky because that is what the Penrith model likes, you take the risks they cash in - and actually the Riff didn't invent it, Bellamy did).

So in essence, Webster will play our ball retention game, and when we cannot get out of our end he will use ball movement to run the ball for yardage on our wing three quarter line.

And after half time if we are in a tight contest he will persist with the safety ball. If we trail the second phase will be used, or if we lack for meters, this is how second phase is meant to be used in a Warriors context, not willy nilly from the kick off.

With Webster, if you are gonna use offloads there has to be a purpose, exactly how it should be.

And for all you critics and cynics, in case you missed it this weekend, Webster is well capable of starting a game with one plan and adapting it to the situation in that same game.

A lot of shit that gets posted about him is just rubbish.

He looked like he had pulled a groin or something earlier in the game after one of his jumps for the ball, haven't seen anything official though and no mention of him on the post game injury reports that I've seen.

Guess we'll find out on Tuesday...

This is the game I've had circled all season, because felt we got dudded twice last season both away definitely and then at home was a bit how ya going also.

So is frustrating to have so many outs, really hope we can front up for this one.

With Egan back and Laban definitely out, potentially Leka also out. Be surprised if Vai is back. Maybe we can use Healey in a bench lock role as we did in his debut against Cows. Come on, take the odd* snipe out of dummy half in that role. Let Egan work off the back of it. EIT can play Labans role as bench 2RF.

Fucking around with our right edge again is probably counter productive but when CNK played Centre last year it was on the right. That's were he attacks best when playing Fullback so it could be an option to get some more offense out of him

Some good ideas coming out of the thread, you boys have got your thinking caps turned on.

@Stalefish540 that bench Locking (13 for our uninitiated) role for Healy is the go.
Last week we used second phase very effectively, this week the Dogs will expect it, turning on a DH running blitz is a good and even safer alternative.
If Webster does want more second phase and passing from the middle third, I see Tom Ale was ball playing a lot this weekend, it could really throw something different at the Dogs if he is given licence to do that roll.

@Cces regarding meddling with our right edge, we are lucky to at least have the luxury of not worrying about whatever side Pompey plays on defensively. CNK as you say is familiar with the right, he knows the block shapes well there eh.

I really do not care who Webster names these days, we are in a crisis, have no right to win anything, in such cases one can only get one hundred percent behind your club, that is what the best sports teams in the world have, Loyal fans....we used to be known for that across the NRL....though of late I see a lot of the old knife stickers are back now we are in trouble....don't worry, your seat on the bus is still there, just might be a bit cold from neglect.

Welcome back to our house. At least the forum is gonna be busy again.

Dogs lost to tigers lol, their system doesn’t like unorthodox plays
Yeah I was interested to hear tigers lead the comp in offloads. Think this is smart if they heading in this direction because I think the chaos that offloads cause are the best way of breaking up defensive lines

TMM offers nothing as a 14, Healey can cover 9&13. If we get an injury in the halves just shift Egan there and use Healey at 9. There’s enough cover between Capewell/Leka for center, CNK/RTS cover 1.

Complete high, tackle hard and don’t switch off, we are a fighting chance in this game tbh im not writing us off totally yet. if we lose we could be in 7th though..
