The biggest mistake is not having a quality seasoned assistant to help Webby, a guy who can also play bad cop and dunk on senior players on the spot. He looks too nice and young and players might not take him seriously once results dont go our way, especially with that bench use and pet players lol


Also remember how weak Ian Foster was with the ABs until they fired his assistants and brought in gun coaches, and they ended up almost winning the world cup. This is probably what we need this year

He was apart of many underwhelming seasons too at the club and cowboys defence hasn’t become top notch since he arrived there. They actually hanging out for Payten to be sacked over there, so I’m still optimistic how things turned out for us and the character we ended up with rather than Payten who was confirmed and instantly turned the job down. The latest instagram video on the Warriors instagram page shows JFH saying Vegas didn’t mean anything and it’s the first home game that’s going to make him really feel like he’s playing for his home. I think we really need to perform at home and it would be a disaster to squander that support that’s seeing us get such a following and selling out home games in the fashion they got last year. For me that’s the issue if we’re looking at the year about building combinations rather than results that those crowds are going to disappear if the results aren’t coming, and worse fans not feeling like the team is giving it a real crack. There’s a lot in attitude that the team needs to show in the coming games for fans to be optimistic about the season and the direction the club is going in

For the Warriors? That is the first I have heard.

Being in charge of the Kiwis was his main link to NZ. I can't recall any link with the Warriors.

In 2023 it was a similar coaching staff to now besides the replacement for Morgan who came up from the Cup side I believe.

Morgan in 2023 wasn't defense coach - he was middles coach. Seemed to work very well.

AFB never regressed in performance after he left, he did in attitude though. Barnett had his best year as a middle last year with Morgan gone. Could have had a bearing, but only the club would truly know whether this had an impact on the 2024 season

Interesting that when 1st grade coaches get sacked mid year it is generally their assistants who move up as per IRO, Cappy and Jones in the past.
The candidates now:
Agar - due to his recent off field history plus his average English record, would you promote him?
Jones - has said not interested again in taking on a first grade job
Griffins - doesn’t have any real coaching credentials ?
Would you go Cappy or even Iro???

Someone I think is very astute is nsw cup coach David Tangata-Toa. Was a part of the panthers juggernaut as nsw cup coach there before coming over and seems to be having some success with our nsw cup team to some degree and players like Vaimauga, Halasima, Leiataua, EIT and plenty more seem to have become nrl ready players playing under him. I wouldn’t mind him coming up as an assistant coach, but wonder if he’s too valuable at nsw cup level in his development of players coming through?

I was having a think about what would happen if Webster just doesn't work out this season. Would we have a play at Trent Robinson? He might be on the outer at the Roosters. I am hoping that Webster comes right as from the outside at least it seems that the players like having him as a coach. Would be good if Warriors Management have a plan B though.

SJ(Shaun Johnson) to take over SJ(Stacey Jones) as assistant coach. Think that could be handy as a future head coach candidate being apart of the identity of the club and knowing what’s needed to succeed in the sped up version of the nrl we see today. Him with another experienced nrl coach as the other assistant to cover SJ’s inexperience would be handy. Sounds as though he’s the halves mentor or a role similar at the moment. I think you need to replace the assistants before replacing Webster

Yeah, it would be interesting to see what he could do with these young guys. Webby making bizzare moves like prioritising Ford... I do think the Parra squads he had were way better than what Webby has to work with this year though. Our squad is bottom 4, which is why I think Webby will be safe.

Judging by this article when Slade Griffin was promoted from nsw cup, it makes me wonder if Tangata-Toa is in line? When do our assistants contacts end?
