General 2026 NZ Warriors Jerseys and Merchandise

Interesting note from Magic Round. The Warriors had a pop up store in Brisbane selling club merchandise. It is against NRL rules to do this.

The club was fined $10k each day for 5 days. So $50k for the 5 days. They made $500k in sales of club merchandise for those 5 days.
What a ridiculous rule, made to be broken

Eh? why?

The club's doing a member survey that's implying a shift to fully digital membership next year. If youse fullas do the survey, help an old bastard out and tick the option for at least maintaining the option of a physical card. I've somehow managed to hold off getting a smartphone this long. ..

Looking at that a little deeper…
I used to work for a sports apparel company (one that used to supply kit for the Warriors at one point).
Their Margin on apparel used to range between the 20%-40% range- usually on the lower end for licensed articles.
Being generous on the margin that brings it down to around the $200k Gross- making the fine around 25% of your profit- and that’s before you take into account rent and Wages (particularly considering Aus weekend penalty rates).
Would have been lucky to Walk away with $100k however the brand exposure would have been priceless, and I suspect any losses would have likely come out of marketing budget anyway
