Fish and Barney Co-Captains, no vice.

Rog has had his crack and left early to come home, don’t begrudge him for doing it but also wouldn’t re-enlist the Captaincy following.
Would you alternate them so one replaces the other off the bench? Feel like you’d need one on all the time to have a captain on the field. Wonder if DWZ is in consideration for co captain? Done it for the Kiwis in the past

You’d like to think one of them is on for most if not all of the game with over-lap, maybe Egan 1st drop in between.

I’ve always struggled with the Winger Capt play, like the Paul Bowman Ctr example, too far away from the middle.

Would always prefer a spine Capt over any other including Prop but I can’t see that for us ATM.

A spine Capt, preferably an experienced skilled one, can lead in all facets an ideally changes the game’s momentum on occasion - a game breaker if you will.

Guess there’s also Capewell to consider in some leadership capacity being a leader and likely an 80 minute player?

There has been a bit of talk about the amount of experience we are losing in Tohu, SJ, AFB. JFH helps balance that out and we still have a huge amount of experience in the team. The leadership group will be strong. Perhaps better without the polarizing SJ and AFB there? Capewell was bought over for his experience and professionalism. Highly regarded at clubs he has played at. Plays 80 minutes. Could have a lot worse picks as VC

Capewell has spent time with JFH at panthers and been a season now with Barnett to have a rapport with both

Gonna come down to who will accept the job. With the club in a rebuild it's an unattractive thing to be asked to do. Captaincy of the Warriors is a poisoned chalice at the best of times.

Te Maire Martin has the right personality for it, he's calm, likable, and relaxed. A good communicator. Unfortunately though, his spot in the team is not certain.

All in all I don't care who they pick. Captaincy is not what it once was, the role is heavily diminished from the days of inspirational leadership.

I may be wrong, but from memory we havent had an official leadership group under Webster. His belief is that it detracts from leadership qualities of those outside the group and allows them to sit back and not add anything.

My thoughts on captain is that its Barnett. He's grown into the role with the club and already has that rapport with the boys. JFH will still lead by his actions regardless.

The issue with leadership groups is you create a clique. Clicky players that tend to be your highest paid group as well does not foster teamship.

The Warriors made the mistake of giving Price special treatment when he was Captain, that's another lesson in what not to do with hierarchy's in teams.

Wow - bit shocked at that. JFH for me 110%.. Mitch been incredible.. end of the day he is an Aussie, how amazing for Kiwis captain, guy with the biggest amount of pride for a nation I can recall in his actions, signed a new deal (so won't use captaincy as leverage for a pay rise also) so here for long haul and most junior players respect him the most out of anyone in the team by miles. To me a no brainer and if they choose Barnett I'll be shocked (again) & dissapointed.
