Mitch Barnett.

I feel like he thrived in the role last season in the absence of Tohu Harris and is what helped catapult him to Origin and Kangaroos honours. He already has the full respect of the coach, staff and most importantly his fellow team mates.

The only other viable option IMO is James Fisher-Harris but I think it would put undue pressure on him to waltz into a new club and assume the captaincy straight away. I feel JFH could learn a thing or two from Barnett and will no doubt get the role eventually but I'd like to see him bleed for the jersey first before expecting the same from his team...

Asked Wayde Egan if a captain had been decided and he said no. Asked him who he thought it should or could be and he said Barney...

After watching an interview with Capewell this came up in my feed. He has a few good takes sprinkled in with a lot of weird ones.

I think Barnett is the most likely option unless he doesn't want it. I can see Webster potentially going with Fisher-Harris. Or Fisher-Harris taking over when this appointment retires or moves on.

His argument about kids wanting to play for the Warriors I think is a bit out there. My kids the last few years have been more drawn to DWZ, Johnson or some of the other players. The captain hasn't been a big concern.

He then goes on about an Aussie coach selecting an Aussie as captain and vice captain. If they are the right person to lead us to success I don't care about their nationality. This is a daft as the times the club has wanted to be a NZ only club and take it to the Aussies. Even with our development strategy there will be some areas we will likely need to recruit.
