Our forwards are alpha af. Halves have been the problem all year, along with rogers edge taking way too long to click.
Agree our forwards are not the problem and you gotta feel for them.
Roger....... forget centre he isn't one.
Ali has a bit to learn but only one way to learn and thats in the fire. Give him the rest of the season.
Taufua same as Ali.
DWZ is just not up with the rest of the comp. wingers.
Halves.... we all know they are not up to it without SJ. Try a young one at least. Other teams are.

Our 'young ones' are not up to it either. Probably our biggest weakness at Cup level too.
TMM and CHT are the best options available
A close to fit TMM or SJ at 7 and I would say we could go on a roll and win a fair chunk of our remaining games, particularly the next 2 and build some momentum. Its clear to me from the last two games TMM is carrying an injury and SJ has an achilles injury which generally take a fair while to come right.

I have us finishing on 27 points, well out of the 8.

Roosters were 4 points out the 8 on 20 points at this stage last year. 14th place as well with bye points all added.

How we respond in these next two home games will be interesting. Need to put on a score and build momentum - 1 game at a time. Comp is too close.
My predictor says we can sneak into the eight if we win every game from now on (with the exception of Manly). The dark horse is the latter who I predict will now carry on a winning run of three, starting with the Roosters. My top four in finishing order are Storm, Panthers, Manly and Roosters and bottom four Broncos, Dragons, Sharks and Warriors (with the Cowboys, Dolphins, and Bulldogs close behind). We would be hoping that these latter three teams drop away. In this scenario, we would play Broncos at Suncorp in the elimination final; a re-run of last year's semi final.

My first run at the NRL predictor (assuming it's calculating everything correctly), going with the highest ranking team winning all games except for Warriors winning all, has us scraping in at 6th on 31 points, with 3 teams below us on 30 points.

Have also had a play and can still get us into 8th with 3 losses weirdly (again not sure if predictor calculating correctly!), but requires a few teams going on unusually terrible losing streaks (with the likes of Tigers/Titans/Eels going on incredible winning streaks!). Can also win all 6 and still miss the 8 too.

So it's still mathematical I guess, but given we've only strung a maximum of 3 wins in a row this year, there will need to be some very specific results going our way if we lose a couple.

I'm guessing we win maybe 3 or 4 max of our remaining games, but still end up maybe 3-5 points out of the 8. Which can of course go back to any 2-3 of our "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory" games which there are many to choose from this year (and probably a couple more to come in all likelihood).

Yay!

At the moment with the worst two teams in the comp at home it’s about playing well and building confidence.

Get that boost and then see where we are at, I’m not overly concerned whether we make the 8 this year but the way we finish the season will show what we can do next season for me.

Stop torturing yourselves if you think we can make the 8

We ain’t making the 8 no matter what your little mathematical calculations tell you

Sit back
Let the hair down
Enjoy the next 5 round with no expectations. No pressure.
That is my approach.
And it feels good

Sounds like every other year no?

The gods are not with us, we will not make the 8

Who will we sacrifice to bring the favour of the gods for next season, the coach, the captain or the princess?
One of us. I nominate that guy who called us brainless jungle bunnies. Or anyone but me basically, any volunteers to go full Jesus for the team?

I think that NRL predictor might have issues with adding 2pts for the byes. As in, it doesn't (I don't think.) This one does: https://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/seasons/nrl-2024/ladder.html

6 losses under 6 points, tale of the season. Too many injuries and or playing players injured. We kept giving ourselves rope and eventually hung ourselves.

Try and jag as many wins to take some momentum into next season, the race for the top eight is well and truly over after the last two losses.

Can't see much of an international calender, so should hopefully get a decent pre-season with a full squad leading into next season.

Destiny is still in our own hands. If we beat the Tigers and Eels at home as we should, we will have confidence.

All those predicting losses during our final 4 of the Dolphins, Manly, Canterbury or Sharks - they are all 5th to 8 teams sitting where we believe we should be. If we’re good enough for finals we will beat them.

If not we’re not good enough. Simple.

A case could be made by Webster after our next 2 wins that the season starts now - win 3/4 against our 5-8 competition and we’re in.

Now just don’t lose to the Tigers…

Well if Shaun Johnson potentially returning this week against the Tigers is true, then the timing is potentially a good one.

Its quite obvious that build up, hype and praise doesn't quite sit as well with our team. Both TMM and CHT have felt it in recent weeks in my opinion and the pressure for consistency seems to be challenging many in key positions. The combined Beavis and Butt-Head - Jackson Ford needs to be dropped in my opinion. We should have kept Josh Curran!

What I am saying is that a call needs to be made on how we tackle the impossible which is to win every remaining game. I think it's worth a shot at tinkering with the side and finding the spark players. If Johnson is fit then great - we know that he is a confidence player and if he is over his injury and feels great then we might just see that 2023 Johnson return in the run home. Leka Halasima, tick! He remains in the squad for the rest of the year. Figure out CNK and RTS - is it worth making the change and swapping both players out just to see what happens. Adam Pompey is likely gone.

Is Luke Metcalf closer to a return then we think? Yes, underdone, but eagerness, fire and speed is something which might not be a bad idea if feasible.

Can we make the top 8? I don't know but the majority may seem like 2024 is done. The entire year has been riddled with injury and inconsistency in performance and its heavily related to the 2024 season. Even when the cavalry did return, the performance still lacked spark.

Make some changes and give the media something else to talk about, whilst putting some excitement back into the fans, because team naming Tuesday is becoming a bit deflating at the moment.
