Was good to see Metcalf act as first receiver on the last tackle of sets a decent amount of times tonight. This wont only help to grow his confidence in his kicking game but will also help to reduce the workload of SJ going forward throughout the season, as we all know how dominant he was with the boot last year.

Lol, thank goodness it's not up to you.
Just don’t get how everyone and Webby can cement Charnze at Fullback, when we’ve signed Roger who’s one a Dally M there, and comes back after 2 years out the game, probly training all pre season at centre and plays like that.

I’m not too fussed as I think Rog is a better centre than Charnze is so would be a better team balance, good position to be in

I was gonna explain but I see you answered your own question in the second paragraph

He gonna have a fantastic year Rog. Combining with CNK outside to feed Carlos.. They gonna be lethal.

Gosh that pre-season match was valuable
So many things for the coaching staff to write down and work on
You have all mentioned the people who made mistakes. Let's hope the coaches have a good sit down chat with those people.

Other thoughts
RTS and Berry equals solid edge defence when they were replaced things became porous.
Capewell looks really good.
CHT being injured and unable to play highlights how injury prone our 4 halves are and why we need 4 of them.

I was ok with the 9-0 penalty count.

Just adding my 5 cents worth. Egan is so valuable that he is starting to remind me of Cameron Smith but without the boot; if Niukore is destined to be a middle this year I would have Afoa as the 4th prop and omit Jazz and Ale - sorry but they just don’t add enough for my liking, also that is a strong defensive prop rotation; I was excited by RTS returning but it looks to be bigger than anything I was expecting; Berry has to be the other starting centre because of his better game awareness and defensive play; Metcalf to start; and my left field wish is for the young centre who came on in the 2nd half to play wing outside RTS because that combination would scare the fuk out of the opposition - sorry Montoya.

Gonna go against the public view here and say last weeks game was far more enjoyable and entertaining

Felt the boys last night was just going through the motions. Game lacked the intensity and excitement put on by the young guns last week. Dunno if it was the crowd, a pumped up Tigers, or our young and hungry pack but way more big hits and tackles the week earlier.

Wanna see more of these young blokes - Laban, Ali, Zyon Maiu’u get their stripes this year. Exciting times.

Let’s get to work.

I thought our defence looked great. Those first 2 tries against us only came from excellent kicks - it's not often you get 2 kicks where the player goes over untouched, that's how well those plays worked out for them.
And then 2 tries in 3 minutes in the final 15, when we've taken a lot of our main team off.

We look like we have enough fire power across the park to really be dangerous this year, with Metcalf, RTS and Capewell all adding attack that we didn't have last year.

Shit it's gunna be hard not to get too excited this year

I in my capacity as a 5 year plus member of this forum hereby confirm that Metcalf did enough last night to claim the 6 jersey and will start the season at stand off. (this is meant tongue in cheek)

Where that places us from a NSW cup perspective in terms of all of our halves (including Hansen and Farr) getting game time who knows.

I thought that was the best I have ever seen Metcalf play by some distance.

Congratulations on your progression from "new to league" to league forum veteran. 😉
