Yes, Trump does seem to be going nuclear, in the sense that he is pushing the boundaries and questioning/challenging laws, the constitution, rejecting international agreements etc. I like some questioning and others are concerning.
However there was concerns in Bidens time with liberties aswell. Both sides have issues. The difference is the conservative or super populist like Trump will do it in your face, while the left will do it underground and behind closed doors.

That's my view.

Now do Trump, you also changed the criteria initially referring to cages which is why I specified deaths in ICE custody.

Interesting that you included until September 2017 when Obama was out of office in Jan 20 2017.

By these stats - Biden had the most deaths per year (Border patrol and Ice detention stats)! But the least if you only want to consider ICE detention.

You are trying to "both sides" what is happening in the US, but I don't understand who the "extreme left" are in your argument. I see the following possibilities: (1) Biden/Obama-type Democrats; (2) Bernie Sanders/AOC-type Democrats; (3) some historical example of extreme left; or (4) a hypothetical extreme left. Any of those?

Few presidents are extreme left or right. It is usually elements in the party that they pander to.
