Politics ðŸ¤¡ Donald Trump

huh? Please Elaborate... what world peace did they secure?
It wasn’t too serious a comment, but world powers have kept each other in check since world war 2.

There are localised squirmishes but nothing that’s drawn the whole world in.

Could also be nukes and mutually assured destruction!

For all the US’s issues they have had the power to expand and dominate the entire globe and have resisted conquering through war, promoted democracy and used economic and scientific power.

There are a lots worse options that could have been the world leaders! Better the devil you know…

I agree with your general assessment up to about 1991 when the Soviet zunion failed the US remained the only true superpower. Then the neo conservative took over foreign policy. They were from both parties so the unaparty was born. They are totally convinced of their own power and doctrine. Now we have Iran, Russia and China forming their own alliances. It was always said before the neo cons that a Russia China alliance would be dangerous. Neo cons effectively pushed them together. What is worse during the cold war there was always contact and dialogue between the two. Now there is none.

1. You think the US secured the victory in WW1 and WWII ?!?
2. Yes nukes. Who is the only country to use them against civilians?

1 - nope, they stayed out as long as possible and emerged from WW2 without the major industrial/ economic damage and military devastation of Britain, Germany, France, Russia, China and Japan. WW2 catapulted the US into global leadership as they emerged the strongest.

2 - do you agree to their use in the context of the time?

As to the US winning both world wars. In the first their entry was late but decisive as the Russians had the Revolution.

In the second the contributions of Russia and China are overlooked as they tied up the vast majority of German and Japanese troops and wore them down. There is no doubting the US contribution was huge but that should not lessen the contribution of Russia and China especially in light of the devastation they suffered

I am cutting back on how much I follow the election. The final straw was a youtube clip I watched today two highly educated intellectual US ladies who felt compelled to have their say about the chances of Trump winning.
They are so appalled by Trump that they started acting un lady like and I am surprised youtube censorship allowed their video. They dropped the F bomb frequently throughout the video calling Trump and his supporters ugly and vicious names. And I became profoundly sad that they have become so stressed and pushed into a corner they have come out swinging. Ordinary intellectual people saying things on youtube you would normally only say to your brother or sister.
I became distressed because I am an empathetic person and I felt their stress and how upset they are at the thought of Trump winning.
"I can't stand walking down the street anymore knowing 50% of the people walking in the other direction support Trump".
History is happening here. And is happening is slow motion with each passing day.
I am tapping out. I will keep reading in the background what you guys are saying in this thread however.

My last comment on a completely different note. Is that I have figured out why Trump has 50% support while I suspect in NZ he would only have 20% or 25%. It is not because of the abortion issue in my view. It is because a huge proportion of the US live in rural locations instead of big cities. While in NZ only a few people live in small towns compared to the states. In all the big cities the polling is just like what it would be in NZ - 80% for Harris 20% for Trump. It is small gun toting towns which are absolute lock for him.

America is not a homogeneous place. The big city folk all want Harris. Not all of them but the vast majority. It is small town USA that is deciding this election. The tail is wagging the dog.

A lot of his support is not down to him. It is Demcratic party policy. Endless wars, transgender issues. Border policy. Using Government Departments against the people. Tulsi Gabbard has been piy on a terrorist watchlist. Rampant drug use, especially fentanyl and tranq. Illegal immigrants being supported above achtual citizens. A lot of this is bring instigated by yhat slimy prick Mayorkis.

I have been thinking about this myself and wondering how the heck it isn't a blow out to Harris. Then when you look at the leadership of most countries I saw a very obvious pattern. Most leaders that are chosen tend to look like the main demographic of said nation. As an example in over 100 hundred years of elections in NZ and Aus I think most of the Prime Ministers are or were white. The majority of the UK have been white. Rishi Sunak wasn't elected by the people, and I think he resigned. With the odd exception as in the case of Barrack Obama who was a supreme communicator most seem to match the skin tone of the majority population. I think it is termed racial bias in Psychology. Not to say it should be this way. Therefore I'm sure there are a whole bunch of white americans who would take Trump no matter how evil over a woman who is brown skinned. Sad I reckon.

Trump has surprisingly high Latino support though. They're mostly urban, so they must be an anomaly in Wrighty's city/rural theorem.

Something is wrong here with your description of these youtubers.
' highly educated intellectual US ladies'. By their own pathetic verbal attacks on Trump supporters they have cast doubt on their intellectual status. And ' I can't stand walking down the street anymore knowing 50% of the people walking in the other direction support Trump', suggests they are simpletons, a couple of hysterical women looking for some attention.

Immigrants as well as rural people people support Trump. The immigrants I don't think can follow the political discourse so vote for someone who walks and talks like a leader. ( based on a youtube documentary which had interviews from different segments of society and the clip drew generalisations e..g the following person is typical of ten we spoke to and then showed the clip of an immigrant who wanted to vote for Trump based on dim witted reasons)

No 90% of the youtube clip was highly intellectual and effective but they are so freaked out they couldn't keep their composure and stay calm. Those two ladies are panicking.

I presume the reason is a lot of South Americans are from deeply patriarchal societies, so they admire Trump's machismo and would never vote for a woman.

The reason why Trump has high Latino support is because many latinos have seen the Democrat socialist like policies screw up their own countries. They are also generally conservative so all of these woke free sex change operations for prisoners and tampons for boys policies are craziness to them. The democrats are killing themselves.

Regarding the patriarchal societies stuff. Maybe they are from normal societies and we in the west have the problem as we support governments who encourage kids to take medication and have operations to screw up their lives. Don’t worry about the patriarchal stuff in South America as a problem, I would be looking at our society as having problems with gender/sex more than them. It’s just many have been brainwashed into thinking it’s normal to have your son get rid of his gear.

Its sort of like world history magnified.
We're sort of in a parallel 1920s politically , but globally?
