I think if left to do their jobs with the support of local law enforcement, like they have in a number of states and cities, I don't think there would be much of an issue.

The Immigration Reform and Control Act makes it illegal to hire undocumented workers in the US. The Trump administration could cut illegal immigration off at the stem (and save hundreds of billions of dollars) if it went after the companies and individuals financing it all. It's almost as if stopping illegal immigration isn't the main aim.
