📝 Summary:

The thread centers on New Zealand's upcoming election, primarily debating the economic management and policy differences between the center-left Labour government and center-right National/ACT opposition. Key criticisms target Labour's fiscal stewardship, citing ballooning government expenditure #7#272, housing unaffordability, and unfulfilled promises like KiwiBuild and dental care expansion #16#12. A user #7 highlighted Labour's annual 9% spending growth versus 1.5% under previous governments, arguing this fueled inflation. National's tax-cut policy faced scrutiny over funding gaps and legality, with user #215 questioning Luxon's reliance on "trust me" assurances.
Leadership competence emerged as a critical theme, particularly in later posts. Luxon drew heavy criticism after a contentious interview where he struggled to defend policy details #194#199#211, while Willis faced backlash for her economic credentials. Hipkins garnered fleeting praise for articulation but was ultimately seen as representing poor governmental outcomes #45#119. A trusted user #308 presented expert economic analysis contradicting Treasury optimism. Infrastructure issues—like Wellington's water crisis and the dental school staffing shortage—were cited as examples of systemic mismanagement #235#12. Notable policy debates included road-user charges for EVs #220, immigration impacts on rents #299, and coalition scenarios involving NZ First #182#258. Early fringe discussions on candidates' rugby allegiances gave way to substantive policy critiques, culminating in grim Treasury forecasts discussed in posts #271#304#308. User #168 also revealed concerns about Labour rushing regulatory changes to entrench policies pre-election.

A whole lot of rowdy protesters at the Mount today about Palestine or something.

There right to have their say but our right to ignore.
Exactly. But you will always have someone saying I don't care about it.... But then go on to comment about it. Or the idiot who tries to inject themselves in to the conversation by talking about something that isn't even being discussed or is connected loosely but still a different thing to the point raised.

You go the dreaded JN.1 brain fog Inruin.
Really sorry about that. Get well soon 😊

Or the idiot who talks about horse racing and wouldn't know how it works except for Google

See there you are deliberately misquoting again inruin - seems to be quite the idiotic habit of yours.

I DON'T care about horse racing. I COMMENTED on Winston.

Be a fuckin boring forum if we only had negative Nancies 😴
Good to be positive and enjoy life 😊
I have to admit I'm a bit worried about Atlas Network though after reading @MaybeTop8's posts about them.

I would like @wizard of Tauranga to do some deep research on them and give us his honest opinion from his point of view as a self-confessed ACT voter, are they a threat to democracy or not Wiz. It's ok to admit it if you find you've been misled by dark forces in the shadows.

I'd do it myself but I'm trying to watch the cricket.

I never quoted anyone. Please don't do that with my posts. It gives the wrong impression to others.

Seems to be quite the idiotic habit of yours.

You do CARE otherwise why carry on about it being cruel in your opinion. Yes you COMMENTED on Winston in order to get your usual corrupt comment in despite it not being relevant to what was being discussed. I'm surprised you couldn't fit a neo-liberalism in there somewhere.

It's ok mate, just keep carrying on like a muppet rather than just saying you misread what the original post was about.

Carry on.

It's pretty simple Inruin - you can just go back and look at quite a few of your replies there are many examples.

And thanks for the encouragement, carrying on! :)

Facts and evidence please .Something I'm pretty sure you said. You'll probably say that's not what you said or it's misquoted though.

Nope you would rather try and deflect away or change to something else.

Hopefully you will just actually take some time to read and think about what you are replying to and commenting on. My hopes aren't high though on that.

Then perhaps be more careful with what you write. As you can see with what you provided, I quoted your post where you not only tried to tell me what I meant (hypocritical much?) but also wrote 'he received a number of large donations to turn it around'.

And what I was originally posting to was a comment that Winston has done nothing where I have said he turned the racing industry around. Nothing you have said refutes that. So, like I say, you have jumped in to add your corrupt messaging that you live off, and completely missed what I was discussing - with another poster, not you. You chose to jump in.

Not much more that I can add to that.
