An interesting life you've led Rick! Yeah, my limited knowledge is it's two internal government army groups split along tribal lines (I could be wrong about that), and I would guess there's a huge and lengthy history involving shadowy and not so shadowy colonial and international powers too......it's a good example of how anglocentric my world view is as well.
I will definitely agree with you on the outside influencers neolib and marxist. Should be a very wealthy country with the amount of gold they had but it's nowhere to be found now.
Funny really as Africa makes Australia look like a kindergarten for resources but none of the countries have really benefited from it. To use your words, Corruption is rife.
They reckon Chad has over a billion barrels of oil reserve (we were looking for gas for power generation and where there's oil, there's gas)

Forgot to mention I was working for Brown and Root, a subsidiary of the Great Serpent Halliburton so I guess I'm tarred

Another negative Luxon article from Hooton - clearly an axe to grind after missing out on an advisor role but sounds like there’s def moves going on. Interesting times ahead!
I said under Labour that once you people turn off you and you drop in the polls there’s no getting people back on board without a major change.

National are looking knackered next year and MUST change leader.

If they are smart they will do it before the end of the year where they have the positive vibe of summer for a honeymoon period and then the economy will pick up as they head into the election.

As poor as Luxon is with his communication and PR, I believe National are doing a lot of stuff right to fix underlying issues and set us up for sustainable success.

Luxon’s only interested in 1 person & that’s becoming increasingly evident to the public.

Maybe I'm completely blind or not keeping up with the news, but I've been pretty happy with Luxon. None of the alternatives offer anything remotely palatable, so he gets the win by default!

You only have to cast your mind back two years to remember the absolute clusterf*ck that was Labour. The Justice Minister getting arrested FFS. Grant dusting $55b. 3 Waters entrenchment. Golriz getting 5-finger discounts. Covid lotteries for hotels.

The reality is the economy is in such a state because it was strangled too hard by Orr, and it is taking a while to bring it back to life, not helped by Grant

I'm not expecing Luxon to be some sort of Midas. Sometimes you need a leader who is just going to make incremental improvements everyday, however unglamourous they might be. We all know where glamourous got us
