Because our productivity is poor we need immigration - we saw the impact on wage inflation of not having it when we came out of the lockdowns. There’s no quick fixes to our productivity trends so immigration remains important for us going forward.

Why do you find that funny wizard? The violence and death as a result of many complex factors, not least of which is that people don't have a choice but to take public transport, and there are huge mental health issues in society along with a sense of entitlement brought about through the lockdowns, a sense of grievance, the pervasiveness of the fake news and anti vax looniness spread and fed by those on the right etc etc.

There isn't anything funny there at all.

What do you mean it’s a bullshit myth? It’s fact and is a multiple decades long problem. Agreed it’s partly due to underinvestment in R&D & education, however demographics play a part as well. I guess the whole things a bit circular, no easy or remotely quick fix. And I wouldn’t blame the wealthy entrepreneurs & risk takers, without them I can assure you that our productivity would be lower.

Immigrants haven’t increased GDP per person which is the important stat. (Eg they spend but dont produce themselves).

We need immigrants in critical roles, doctors, nurses, specialists etc to replace those leaving offshore for better renumeration, and because we're not educating enough in all these fields to replace them. Bob Jones said something that's always stuck with me, "Why do we have have so many unproductive members of society, are they too lazy to be doctors?" Country has too many drug-addled morons to achieve the outcomes we'd like to see, I don't think immigration is the root problem.

Actually you dont, you need to incentivize domestic capability or you lose your ability to be self sustainable. Has allowing mass immigration for these roles lowered their critical nature?

I do , whether its the MM or anyone else.
The thing with the MM is they are so dumb they have adopted saluting and chanting seig heil and inking nazi signs on themselves without realising the Nazi's would have hated them. Add barking to the list and they are terrible examples of what to aspire to.
