And take Shane Jones with him
What I'd like to know is what has he been doing the last three years? You'd think getting ditched at the last election would mean finding another job seeing as their entire party pretty much got the boot from the public. But here we are 3 years later and he's back.

When they were in government in 2017-2020 he was gloating he'd never go on a backbenchers salary again. Like it was beneath him. A stupid thing to say as even if you got elected every single time it doesn't mean your party is going to be in power.

The salary is enough to get him back. Or maybe it was the movies he could expense on the tax payer.

He’s been in parliament a while over the years so you would think he has a nice fat taxpayer funded superannuation propping him up…

Only just came up on my feed. Been started a while ago.

Both Chris's have said that won't ban vapes. I'm just assuming because too many people vape and it's their voters.

I've seen way too many kids vaping and my teacher friend said that his class kids try and vape in the classroom.

Make it prescription only like Australia.

Starting with individuals, companies and trusts moving assets and money overseas to avoid paying tax on them.

Then moving on to our quasi CPT where it's easy to avoid because it's all about the purchaser's intentions about when they brought an asset and whether or not it was brought with the purpose of selling for a profit. Just getting an account to write a letter saying it wasn't the intention of making a capital gain shouldn't be enough for the IRD not to seek tax on the gain.
It isn't enough.

Just have a look at some of his comments about the Ihumato protesters and compare those to some of his comments about the Parliament perverts that protested. It's really easy to see why he's called a racist.
Protests were about different issues. Ihumato, land was legally sold by Iwi, then another faction protested and got the usual suspects camping out and Jacinta appeased the Maori protestors.

Have you not been paying attention to the quality of candidates Act have?
There have been a couple more stories on the selection process. Not very flattering & a decent undercurrent of racism.

With a Labour candidate saying that a "wealth tax is still being discussed" but then denied by Hipkins, it makes you wonder if Hipkins hasn't got the support of his caucus if these discussions are taking place behind his back or if ideas are being formulated on a "capital gains tax" or "wealth tax" under a different name but which would be acceptable to the Green and Māori Parties while still being able to say "we didn't introduce one" if it was required for potential coalition discussions.... "it's not a Wealth Tax, it's our new Fairness Tax".

Then there's always the "we didn't want one and we campaigned against one, but to get the support of our coalition partners, we have had to introduce one" excuse.

Or perhaps an extension of the "brightline tests" to include other assets which would have been covered in Labour's previous capital gains taxes. Remember the promises not to introduce new taxes.... they just changed the existing ones or called them "levies" instead.

There seems to be all sorts of ways of introducing either a WT or CPT despite Hipkins assurance otherwise.... just give it another name, blame another party or "fiddle" with existing taxes.

Or perhaps Hipkins doesn't enjoy the backing of the Labour caucus now that he did when he first became PM.

Yes I have. The quality of candidates across all parties is average to be generous. What I have noticed is that over last three years the ACT have not been in the media for MP's for doing things they shouldn't. They have not had any internal divisions either apparently with their MP's.
It is so easy to label anyone a racist that questions or opposes anything relating to the Treaty or Maori.
I believe there is more of an undercurrent of racism within the Labour Party than ACT. Willie Jackson has an interesting view on democracy.

It's actually amazing what is now labelled as being "racist" or "race baiting"

If you believe in 1 person = 1 vote, you are a racist

It's a bit easier to not have internal ructions when your parties popularity rest solely on one person.
The quality of candidate making it through selection and on to the party list should be enough worry any rationale person.

Probably best to not address the rumours around the Act party president who stood down... yikes.

Kinda sad people are so easily drawn in by beneficiary and maori bashing during an election.

Co governance is a big election issue. It is not Maori bashing.
Kids not going to school, uneducated, destined for the welfare heap or worse is a big issue. Not valuing education is a big problem. These are problems facing Maori and the issue must be confronted. It isn't Maori or beneficiary bashing, something has to done.

Except parties aren't electioneering on aspirational policy to transform those issues for the better of everyone.
Its much more punitive and punching down.

In fact the only aspirational policy so far is geared toward making landlords richer.

A Party where people asked to apply to go through the candidate process, who report a strong thread of anti maori sentiment - are not going to be able to break the cycle of poverty you mention.
