There will be a heap more that 14. But we don't really track data on wealth in this country - hence the IRD investigation in 2022/23 and planned data collection going forward that the current govt torched.14 in 2022 according to this - https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/128797740/more-tax-for-countrys-14-billionaires-inevitable#:~:text=The number of billionaires in,has wealth of $12b.

Mate, you must be dense - no one is advocating taking anyone's wealth away from them.so we need to take peoples wealth from them? their life’s work? generational family businesses? family land etc? and just give it to those less fortunate? less able? or less motivated?
remember the good old days when people used to work hard their entire lives to leave something for their kids? fuck that because not everyone does you reckon?
tall poppy syndrome is rampant in this country.
imagine being at the movies but having no popcorn so just start complaining and demanding that the owner take some popcorn off everyone else and give it to you?
sounds ridiculous right?
it’s not all as simple as you make out dude. and as much as i’d love everyone to live the best life they can, i don’t think taking things off people who’ve worked hard for them is the ticket.
of course it is, it’s always been geared that way. that’s who runs the world.Mate, you must be dense - no one is advocating taking anyone's wealth away from them.
People want a fairer system. If you think the system isn't currently geared toward the ultra wealthy then you aren't paying attention - but I could have told you that already.
There has never been a ' level playing field ' anywhere in the world, ever.Oh bullshit Dean. Try having a level playing field first, you know, that mythical level playing field the neolibs make up to make it seem like everyone's coming from the same place.
Of course people are disadvantaged. You know, racism, misogyny, the right. This country is built on that.
And do you feel qualified to talk about tampons? Unless you actually use them yourself for biological reasons, you probably won't be an expert.
defend it?!Lol, you know it's rigged, but you'll defend it anyway. Look a fucking Tory! Lol.

That's a great policy if the people having them and then neglecting the kids listen and think, ok I am not going to have kids. But I don't think they are listening, so do we leave their kids to suffer under their parents neglect or help them?If you can't feed the kids you have or supply tampons for them , don't have them. It's simple, even you might be able to grasp that.
This is not Chad or Syria or somewhere where people are disadvantaged.
Agree. Not much can be done about the current crop of losers but future generations can be salvaged. Bit like super, faze it out, increase the age etc. That's a great policy if the people having them and then neglecting the kids listen and think, ok I am not going to have kids. Wonder what would happen if a party campaigned on fazing out losers having kids. They'd probably get elected.Get real. What part don't you understand.
If any party campaigns on cutting out the pension they'll never get elected to go through with it.
I understand what you mean
Certainly get my vote as long as the party didn't have anything to do with silly old Winnie.Wonder what would happen if a party campaigned on fazing out losers having kids. They'd probably get elected.
Actually they probably did get elected, that's ACT policy isn't it?Certainly get my vote as long as the party didn't have anything to do with silly old Winnie.
Its all just very selfish and greedy thinking. There has never been a ' level playing field ' anywhere in the world, ever.
That is the problem with socialists, they try to create one which is always worse than the system it has replaced.
Life is like football, you need a plan to succeed, to win.
The innate plan is survival, how do I keep myself warm and fed. How do I earn the the things I want to have.
If I want a family, how do I provide for them. This is not neolib thinking, it is human instinct. Sadly, dependency on welfare dampens that and eventually destroys the individual.
I am not an expert on tampons, I don't own a tampon factory although I would like to and I don't use them, a stupid suggestion you came up with.
However, I have bought up two daughters and I paid for their tampons. You see, I had a plan for how I was going to provide for my family. I would have been ashamed to know that I couldn't meet my daughters basic needs.
The entitlement age is creeping up to 67 over time isn't it?Get real. What part don't you understand.

The entitlement age is creeping up to 67 over time isn't it?
Eventually it will change from what it is, probably some sort of means testing.
How about this idea.
Up to 15% of anyones salary or wage invested in their Kiwisaver goes in untaxed.
That would be a big incentive to save for retirement, higher income earners would do very well but may not be elligible for govt super with a means testing index alongside.
