Social ðŸ’ª Savage September

NZWarriors.com

96.6kg. cracked the 97 mark for the first time. Been doing extra walking and focused on limiting sugar intake. Still a chance to hit the 95's before Christmas. Wife is pissed off because she can see the changes and she's not losing anything

Got roped into playing 40s at Touch Masters Nationals. Very apprehensive but got through the first training sesh alright.
Dawned on me that Touch & Social Touch are light years apart. Physically I think I'll be alright but always struggle with following game plans

Wife and I joined the gym 5 weeks ago and have been going 5 times a week.
I have been doing shoulder and bicep rehab for almost a year before joining( after surgery). Can't do pushing exercises, probably never be able to.. I am doing very low reps very slowly. Shoulder feels more stable, good range of movement and less clunking noise.
No problem with motivation, I think that is due to the $13 a week sub.
Just trying to build some strength back and movement.

Honestly I've been flat out this month and recovery is my priority. Feeling a bit worn out but that's because I'm trying to cash in on this busy season. Need to manage workload and recovery.
I’ve finished my huge winter project.

Lost to much weight and last few weeks been trying to put some back on.

Opposite problem to most of you guys 🤣

Busy week with work and have neglected the exercise a bit. 96.4kg today. Still feeling good though. Next week should be a good one and have more time. Belly fat is hard to get rid of.....

Yes it is. I have found it challenging but not yet impossible to eat as healthily as I should. Take the time to lose your weight. Better slowly for your system apparently

Way to go. Big effort since September.
Slowly but surely. So since September I've lost basically 3kg and got the body moving better with stretches, pilates, exercise. Pretty happy with that. Beginning of December last year I was 104-105kg. Basically have around 8-9kgs less for my body to hold and have that pressure on joints, muscles, organs etc. I'm keen to carry on and if I can get to 92kg by May/June and maintain it then I will be in a great place to put even more effort in to Savage September 2025. 🔥🔥🔥

On holiday in QLD & got myself some new Touch boots at DFO this morning. This evening went to Wynnum to do some Broken Bronco's (20m out & back, 40/40 & 60/60) every 2 minutes with the aim of the rep taking less than 60 secs. Ambitiously chose 14 reps as my target but the head noise came in at 3! Got through to 7 & told myself I'd rest 5 minutes & do the remaining 7. Didn't happen. Heart rate was still hovering at about 130 bpm. Happy all the same & will aim for 8 in 2-3 days time

Haven’t heard of broken broncos before might have to give them a try as I’ve been meaning to do a few broncos.
Was getting a bit bored plodding along trying to run distance so have found myself doing more interval runs at a higher speed to make it a bit more interesting and increase my speed a bit which seems to be working better for me.
Might mix up a couple of faster interval runs with a couple of slower endurance runs to over both bases

Must be a lot warmer and humid than your usual training conditions.

Got an hour on the bike yesterday and a shorter ride in the evening. Another hour this morning.

I am hoping the weather holds up over Christmas as I like being able to ride during the day when there is no traffic. The last time I was in Auckland for Christmas it was the tail end of covid which would have also reduced the traffic.

Once the builders have finished for the year on our renovations and an appointment for the car we will head off on holiday. Hopefully a lot of time out on the bike.

Final weigh in. Pretty happy with where I have got to so far.

Thank you all for indulging me with my updates. Its kept me on track and honest knowing I'm reporting in each week.

Looking forward to next year and seeing where everyone improves and gets to.

Got to get through Christmas and New Years first. I was joking with my 8 year old the other day when he put a few box of scorched almonds in the trolley "hey you know your old fella has a scorched almond problem".

I'm lucky I cycle so much over the holidays to help balance all the food I sneak in.

New Years I am pretty good at going cold turkey and turning things around. Then it is a matter of how long that lasts.

yeah, I'm expecting a little increase in weight over the coming weeks! But I'm also very aware of how much effort is required to bring it back down. I'm certainly going to enjoy myself but it wont be to the same extent some previous festive seasons have been :)
