Social 💪 Savage September

Got roped into playing 40s at Touch Masters Nationals. Very apprehensive but got through the first training sesh alright.
Dawned on me that Touch & Social Touch are light years apart. Physically I think I'll be alright but always struggle with following game plans

Real touch and social touch are almost different sports aye bro.

Always makes me laugh when league commentators talk about a length of the field try with random flick passes and big steps everywhere as "touch footy" when 90% of rep level touch tries are constructed plays (usually on the last touch) from the 5/7 and you'll hardly ever see a long range try or someone stepping 5 guys to score.

A lot of people have fitness goals for the new year. Usually you build up to them, not knock them off the morning of January the 1st.

Previously my longest ride was 2.5 hours and the longest distance was 52kms. That was a few years ago. I've done 2 hours a few times but end up either tired or needing a bathroom break.

I had a goal of doing 2.5 hours and 60kms. They didn't have to be the same ride. This morning I got 3 hours and 70kms.

The younger days of recovering from a hangover were more relaxing.

Had a bit of a soft launch on NY goals and essentially started with the Xmas break to get a bit of a running start.
Just a simple goal this year of seeing how long I can hold out on some shit foods and trying to exercise most days.
Current goal is to do every day in Jan for a start and see if I can go a month with better food for a start

Nice. I'm starting again from the 6th January. I've been eating a fair bit this week of all the foods you should eat rarely but I love. Haven't had them for several months and damn they taste good!

So I'm back on my bullshit. Nov was a write off and only got back to it the last week of Dec. 2nd workout and first Pilates class of the year today. Numbers on the scale dropped (not good), numbers on the bar dropped (not good), numbers on the run increased (not good).. Sigh..

Will be back to my triple days Feb I think

I've managed to get another 1.5 & 30kms on the bike the last few days.

A bit different to last summer where I'd get two rides in. Likely take it easy tomorrow as we will be travelling back to Auckland later in the day. Get a few laps around town.

With you there brother.
Slack since the league season ended.
About 4 kegs to heavy.
On a mission now from Monday.
Off to Rebel Sport tomorrow to get some dumbells. Back on the Exercycle. Super healthy eating binge. Vodka my only vice as well as my Friday shit lunch treat.
Had a great season refereeing in 24 but it’s the next game that matters.
Don’t want to be the guy that should have retired.

January just about done and I did bugger all this month. Starting back up with it tonight. Better check in later

Just had my best day of Jan today. Still well off the pace from 4 months ago.
Nice one. I pushed too hard at work cashing in on peak season in my small bizo. Hit the wall and have had to reshape everything. But life is busy lifting so keep pushing

I've managed to do something every day this month.

It isn't unusual for me in January to go a long period without a rest day. This year was a bit different as I had a day/overnight trip to pick up my kids and another day travelling to Tauranga and back for a funeral. Still managed to fit something in.

It does show if you are determined you can fit things in. School starting back up is another challenge.

I've also had some days where I've got multiple sessions in. Had one day out on the bike, and then my son wanted to test-run his new ride to school. His brother heard about that when he returned home and out we went again.

Multiple sessions is where you really start to seperate yourself from the crowd

I’m 100% useless at that. In fact that’s 1/2 the reason I do reformer.
Oh yeah I brush cut on steep slopes in thick tall overgrown grasses and weeds in a max of 43 degrees when either my body or machines give the warning signs. That was some of my dumb thinking approach that got worn out.

Savage February here I come
