Sports 🏏 Black Caps

Well I'm genuinely glad Ben Sears gets a go, but he's had what, 0 ODI matches? 🤣

They'll probably go with

Conway
Ravindra
Kane
Mitchell
Latham (wk)
Phillips
Chapman
Santner
Henry
Smith
Ferguson
🤣

Conway will be a bust and if our No.2-4 don't put on 200 then we'll be scoring >200 against top teams.

At least after the champions trophy I want to see this

Robinson/Allen/Conway (let them fight)
Ravindra
Kane
Mitchell
Young/Bracewell/Chapman (let them fight)
Philips
Hay (wk)
Henry/Duffy (to give Henry rest)
Jamieson/O'Rourke/Shipley (fit guy plays)
Sears/Smith/Foulkes (fight it out)

I remember we had the Pakistan tour in 2014 and Henry knocked the door down and was discovered, way back we had Hamish Marshall when the B-team visited Asia after the bomb attack. Then we had like 6 pacemen in the 2015 world cups and Mills/Mclaughlin missed out playing (Henry wasn't even selected). We seriously need to let these guys fight it out instead of being complacent and settle for finishing in the bottom 5

Btw I'm shocked Henry can bowl at the death now, I remember him rushing to the boundary in 2019 to take selfies for me and my daughter and managed to flip the selfie mode cuz I didn't know how, then rushed back to the field lol. I'm in the "Where's Muh Henry" Brigade

It was the 4th game of 2019 where Boult took like 6 wickets including a caught and bowl lying on his back, and we bowled them out for less than a hundred, and we got to play on the field after the 3 hour match lol

Good point then we might end up with Henry/Fergey/Santa, and Bracewell batting at 8, Philips 5-10 overs with Ravindra 0-5 overs.
Is there a bit of the sameness in the spin options with that line up? Not sure who else you could put in though.

One of the commentators the other day made a good point about spinners in NZ. He felt we had convinced ourselves that spin doesn't work in NZ conditions so we don't really end up developing them. Yet opposition teams always bring them and they end up taking wickets. So we need to adjust our thinking.

There's Ajaz but he's not in the squad, we lack good leg spinners, looks like Sodhi's career is winding down too.

I really hate lathem in the middle of the order! I just don't like how those partnerships match with, Mitchell, Phillips. Now they have picked Conway.

1 R Ravindra
2 W Young (Left hand, Right hand)
3 K Williamson
4 D Conway wk
5 D Mitchell
6 G Phillips (Only because we have too many left handed batters!)
7 M Bracewell
8 M Santner c
9 L Ferguson
10 M Henry
11 W O'Rourke

They shouldve given him a go in the 3rd T20 against Sri lanka.

We had already won the series so it wouldve been ideal.....the Indians are willing to back his talent....not our conservative mob.
5 t20s against Pakistan after the champions trophy. I want to see him get in the ODI team, i would love to see what he can do when he's in, on the middle of the order.

Vs Pakistan
1 W Young
2 R Ravindra
3 K Williamson
4 D Mitchell
5 B Jacobs
6 M Hay wk
7 M Bracewell
8 M Santner c
9 L Ferguson
10 M Henry
11 W O'Rourke

Jacobs has real power and a quick wrist action (fast hands with the bat) but he can defend and pace an innings, he reminds me of Kevin Pietersen, I just hope he keeps working on his defense, he could be anything!

Haven't been this excited about a future black cap since Jamieson.

Bit depressing hearing about these gun youngsters while we get Latham, Conway and Chapman in the line-up o_O

Taylor got an emergency call up at 22 and the rest was history, Kane was like 21, BMac 20, Ravindra was 23 when they reluctantly went to him. Now Will Young is growing into it and he's 32 🤣
Get jacobs in there ASAP! Oh and Conway is the backup keeper! 😂 let's not take an actual keeper who bats down the order. Let's get the most out of form player we can get.

Is this all Sam wells?

So Allen is basically done for not having the basic technics, what a wasted management of talent, watched him since he was in the U19 with Ravindra.

Always wondered if Guppy was on target until Stokes knocked the ball into the boundary in that painful final that happened to be the most classic ODI game of all time.

It is an actual failure from all of his coaches for not helping the man round out his game!

An absolute waste! But scorchers can't even help him.

Is this where the longer format games are of huge benefit? 4 or 5 day cricket teaches you do be more selective and disciplined
