Lathem!
Interesting teamSo I don't get this persistent love for Latham and Chapman.
Robinson seem to do well, Hay is our next long term keeper, Will Young clearly has worked it out, they need to be regulars this year unless we want a granddaddy batting line up in 2027 parallel to our 2023 bowling line up
I'd aim for 2027 with
Young (workhorse)
Ravindra (next goat in the making)
Williamson (dusk of the goat)
Mitchell (almost goat)
(??)
Philips
Hay (wk)
Santner (spin/cap)
Henry (lead man)
O'Rourke (tall)
Sears (express)
Back ups - Jamieson/Shipley/Duffy/?Ferguson, Conway/Chapman/Robinson/Allen/Bracewell to fight it out on form with Young flexible at 1 or 5
That's still quite a serious side given our WC history as long as we get warm up games through not-amateur management and coaching
I'm not a purist (gulp) and like all forms of the game. Jamieson is an awesome bowler and if he can stay uninjured will add to an already stacked bowling attack. A few good batters also coming through. Not a fan of t20 cricket but I've tuned in to see what beven Jacobs can do. And man, Kyle Jamieson is moving the ball both ways again! He's looking tuned for a tilt in the champions trophy squad.
Good team but the only knock i have on it is where are the last 10 overs from the 5th bowler coming from?My ODI squad 4 champions trophy
1. T Robinson
2. W Young
3. K Williamson
4. R Ravindra
5. D Mitchell
6. G Phillips
7. M Hay (wk)
8. M Santner (c)
9. K Jamieson
10. M Henry
11. L Ferguson
12. T Latham
13. BJ Jacobs or M Chapman
14. N Smith
15. W O'Rourke
Where do you think Ferguson fits in the pecking order in the current selectors thinking? I'm not sure about him myself. Is there another bowling all rounder we could bring in instead?Good team but the only knock i have on it is where are the last 10 overs from the 5th bowler coming from?
We can't rely on Phillips or Mitchell in this case I feel.
I would go
1 W Young
2 T Lathem wk
3 K Williamson
4 R Ravindra
5 D Mitchell
6 M Bracewell
7 M Santner
8 K Jamieson
9 L Furguson
10 M Henry
11 W O'Rourke
5 genuine bowling option and Bracewell over Phillips with the bat and bowl if he needs to chip in.
I actually think Bracewell is a better batter than Phillips and bowler!
Yeah i guess the risk with his injury background, same with Jamieson, but i was talking with a mate about it yesterday, and you just play the good ones when fit. Shane bond spent a lot of time on the sidelines, but was straight back in when fit!Where do you think Ferguson fits in the pecking order in the current selectors thinking? I'm not sure about him myself. Is there another bowling all rounder we could bring in instead?
Just one of those games I reckon.Went to the game left after nz were 7 down. Nz headspace were absent thinking champion trophy.
