For England Iā€™d give one of the quicks a rest, probably Atkinson, and play Potts who is a real trier. Also, Iā€™d give Ahmed a game instead of Bashir even though the latter is being groomed for the Ashes series. Ahmed is a leg spinner so a different proposition, only 20 years old with loads of potential

I think they will stick with Bashir. Hamilton is possibly the most spin friendly pitch in the country - not that I necessarily think the game will require serious spin - sort of have to get to day 4 or 5 for that.

Still can't believe we gifted 4 wickets to Bashir on day 1 of a test on a green top!

As for the seamers, tough to leave hatrick hero Atkinson out. Potts doesn't exactly bash the door down, he is what he is which is bowling depth. I think they will go with the same team and look to wipe us well and truly.

I don't think he'll ever do it.

If Bmac wants to continue coaching (which to me is a big if) he will do so on the T20 circuit.

Look at Stephen Fleming - he should be the coach of NZ, but why would he give up his IPL commitments which pay him about NZD $1m for a few months work.

Gary Stead is paid about NZD $350,000 (easy to see why he has hung around) but typically being the head coach of NZ requires to be outside of the country nearly 200 - 250 days a year.

I just can't see Bmac coming out of a dual coaching role with Eng, earning mega bucks and taking up the NZ coaching role. Could be wrong but I suspect by then (if not already) he will be completely set for life and will go back to his first love of horses
Lifelong gambler Bmac could never have too much money - seeing as we only play about 6 tests a year that shouldnā€™t be a deal breaker.

same for fleming, we don't have nearly the fixture list of other teams so they could hold down two jobs, most of the players do after all

Everyone that loves cricket should hear this Gary Stead interview today, what an absolute pussy!!!

This guy must be sacked immediately!!!

Thank God Martin Devlin, DSPN was a good listen today and he is so right!
Didn't hear the interview you are commenting on but I heard Stead on the news a few days ago saying about Southee. "It's up to him how he wants to go out ". Or words to that effect.
Great player but fmd
