Man it sucks not to have Finn Allen, I'm serious about that as well. He's a T20 specialist.

The specialist isn't doing too well currently in Aussie thoughMan it sucks not to have Finn Allen, I'm serious about that as well. He's a T20 specialist.
That's okay, he's still a weapon at the top.The specialist isn't doing too well currently in Aussie though
Only in flat track, no movement conditionsThat's okay, he's still a weapon at the top.
Mitchell and Bracewells partnership cant hide the brittleness in that batting line up
Robinson got an International call up on the basis of one big innings for Wellington but not a heck of a lot else apart from that.
Ravindra im not sold as a T20 opener.....there's nothing in the bank that suggests he's a T20 player at all tbh.
Mitch Hay i rate but his runs are all in red ball cricket.....dont know why we dont play newcomers in the format their most comfortable with.
Sri Lanka doing this in a canter
People thought KW wouldn't be any good at t20 because he played to correctly. Turned out he was bloody good because of thatT20 Specialist still means a batsman first and foremost.
These Sri Lankans are real batsman, with good technique who are playing real cricket shots. Mitchell played cricket shots. Robinson does not look like a real batsman with a real technique. Allen does not have the foundation. I keep arguing that Phillips doesn't either.
A guy like Allen can fit with other real batsman if he is in form. I used to like a guy like Latham in the middle order because he can play great cricket shots for 4s & 6s with ease in this format, but people see a test specialist. It is interesting that in big tournaments they turn back to these experienced types of players.
ODI is the format for bringing in new players for me. But who cares, it is shitty hit & giggle.
On the 4 day tests I would like to see it only if we cram more tests in over a season. Eg it allows 3 test series instead of the 2 we’ve had in the past.Anyone else on here starting to worry that cricket's problem is it has too many fomats?
Yes, the only ones that are International are Tests, ODIs and T20s, but how long before someone goes "Hey, this T10 is really cool, short, sharp and over with quickly, means it's less likely to be messed about by weather as we can fit the game in before/after the weather blows over, how's 'bout we bring T10 in and while we're at it, shorten that boring 5 day Test thingy by a day, the kids these days, well, they ain't got the time to eff about with five days"...etc.
As a cricket fan, which format is The One To Take Seriously!? I started watching cricket seriously with ODIs in the 90s and over the years have come to prefer Tests but still regard only those two formats as being valid internationally. Heaven forbid, but is Time leaving me behind?
If so.
BITCH.
I think it's dangerous fiddling with the test format in that way. Take the boxing day test for example - two very intriguing days left with all results possible which would otherwise be heading to an inevitable draw without the fifth day.On the 4 day tests I would like to see it only if we cram more tests in over a season. However I feel we will just create more room for extra T20’s.
And I feel like cricket goes in cycles a little bit. At the moment baz ball and batsman with T20 skills are being talked about. It won't be long until a side is getting batted out of games because they can't adapt to test cricket and it will move the other way. England v Australia will be an interesting test series and could cause a lot more debate on the merits of the attack at all costs strategy.I think it's dangerous fiddling with the test format in that way. Even a triangular series with NZ Australia and another country after the Australian home test series would be great as it used to be. Yes I agreeTest cricket first and foremost!
I would scrap international T20 cricket altogether and focus on a meaningful one day cricket schedule and tours, I would love to have australia and new zealand host a one day tournament annually in both countries coinciding together so we play australia a bit more in our home summers.
People say they don't remember great t20 series or games and I agree, they are meaningless unless it's for a trophy worth while. But I will never forget the chapel hadlee series when we chased 300 down in consecutive games!
Cricket it not for people that have no patience in the arts of this sport, it's for the purist, and it never should have been fucked with in the beginning.
All for local T20 around the world IPL, BBL etc, just not internationally, because it just becomes a breeding ground for the IPL to take whoever they want.
Quadrangle tournament with NZ, Aus host and two other nations, and bring back a boxing day Test series in NZ.
Honestly! How many times do we play australia? As a cricket fan it's an absolute travesty!
We had one of the first T20's here in NZ where the NZ side treated it like a party trying to smash every ball and play fancy shots. The Australians came in, played simple cricket shots and made it look easy.People thought KW wouldn't be any good at t20 because he played to correctly. Turned out he was bloody good because of that
I still think the 1982-83 B&H with Oz, NZ and Eng is one of the best cricketing tournaments of all time.Even a triangular series with NZ Australia and another country after the Australian home test series would be great as it used to be. Yes I agree
I was in Australia at the time and it was hugely popular.I still think the 1982-83 B&H with Oz, NZ and Eng is one of the best cricketing tournaments of all time.
