Yep, 4 day tests are clearly the future

T20 with the field up. Easy street. A shame, but inevitable.
Serious question. Why would we need to go to 4 day tests? Why change it? We already have short format games for the goldfish attention span crowd. 5 days still provide a test for teams, helps cover any games that lose time with rain, etc. just because currently there are games finishing in 3 or 4 days isn't a reason to change I think

Money. Scheduling. Survival of those outside the big 3.

Teams are scoring so quickly that the fifth day will become a costly exercise. Weather is the big concern.

Test cricket is battling hard against the T20 comps and will lose if something is not done.

I'm not an advocate, I want franchise cricket, betting agencies, rich, corrupt businessmen etc. to stop seeing cricket as a commodity and burn in hell!!

I guess but I'm seeing a resurgence test cricket currently

NZ doesn't play a serious game of test cricket for another year. We might lose our greatest ever player prematurely because of it?! The same player is missing the rest of the NZ summer to play club cricket in South Africa for an IPL financed team.

What purists enjoy vs what the big three boards will ratify and fund are two different things. The IPL owns world cricket right now.

Sorry, I mean in terms of audience and crowds. I think the test championship has added to it. It's certainly disappointing that cricket boards aren't scheduling them better.

I have always enjoyed the 5 day test match.
Shorter versions have audiences want quicker results unfortunately.
We are now seeing reverse sweep and ramps shots in the 5 day form.
Test cricket has gone backwards for me

But his strike rate is 142.85!

Shows how stupid it is to quote stats sometimes
How is the strike rate looking now with 0 off 5 tonight

Poor bugger needs a confidence boost or he is going to struggle getting many more t20 contracts.

Tim Seifort on the other hand has made a good start to the BBL season
