Sports 🏏 Black Caps

he has had a great start to the BBL. 6 and out. 4 and out. if he stopped trying to hit every single ball for six and was a little bit more selective with which deliveries to have a go at he could be such a good player. As it is, if there is any movement then he tends to struggle.
It surprises me that a guy like that can't play more than 20 overs!

Reminds me of Craig Spearman (opener in the 90s with all the shots)

Looked a world beater scoring a quick 27 or 30 but couldnt last longer than 12 or 15 balls. Somehow needs to find that balance between dominating and valuing your wicket.
Needs to mature a bit. Some of those big hitters don't mind being 2 off 10 because they know those opening overs can be a bit trickier and they back their ability to accelerate. If he bats 10 overs he more than likely sets his team up fir victory

Anyone watching Kontas for Australia.
The games changing when 19 year olds on debut are trying several flick shots and charging down the pitch in the first 30 minutes of a Boxing Day Test.
5 attempted ramp shots against the worlds best bowler.....hit the last 3 for boundaries.

First morning of a Test match 6 overs in lol

Dont know if thats sustainable or if he'll have a long career.....but its entertaining

On one hand I hate it. On another, it is probably smart to have an opener that can come out firing.

The old adage of do what the opposition doesn't want you to do. They'd rather he fiddled at one outside off for a nick I'm sure.
