Sports 🏏 Black Caps

Yeah, look it's played out as I suggested which was to bat as long as we can and have 10 or so overs to bowl at them tonight. Not sure why people are getting uptight about not declaring an hour ago.
We have been face fucked this series.
I wanted to show some foot on the throat aggression.
500 in a fourth innings, Stokes health very questionable.
Letting the game just plod along, I want this wrapped asap.
As soon as we had over 450 the game was decided, rather win a positive fashion.
Obviously all subjective.

Absolutely 💯. Get back some respect

What a carry on by Crawley. A man feeling the pressure there. It will be interesting to see what the match ref makes of that.

That umpires call is brilliant as far as I'm concerned. Otherwise just replace them with AI. Crawley should play in the 90s and then talk about poor decisions.

Yeah I get it but from my perspective it's the right play. Grind them out in the field to an impossible total and give them a short spell to try and survive before stumps. A different mindset as a batsman playing for an hour and a half versus a nothing to win half hour. Two whole days to play. There was no rush needed. I'm critical if this team and coach in particular but today has been clinical imo.

Yeah that’s fair.
I stand by what I said, game was wrapped up when we got to 450-500.
Doesn’t really matter, we are going to win anyway.

At that score they still would have felt they had a chance I think. Plus we would have had an hour and a half in the field and starting tomorrow with a ball that would be close to 25 overs old. As it is we have two wickets, fresh bowlers, a basically new ball and then thinking about having to bat two days to save the test or score 600+. I'm happy enough. The negative play for me was sending O'Rourke in as night watchman last night

Tactically there’s no argument against what you’re saying. It’s totally logical.
They must’ve been having a few lines of Charlie in the nets if they thought England were getting over 500 though.
We defer on how we wanted to win, that’s all.

Should have sent them back in enforcing the follow on and won by an innings 🥊

Bigger picture with the negative drawn out play, the big teams won’t see us as a rock star team and we get less quality tests…
Na, right call to bat and get the runs while we can. It was a very hot day and they got basically a session and a bit to put their feet up after a day and a bit already in the heat fielding. Look at how ineffective their bowlers were in that second innings. If we were playing Australia in Australia they would have done exactly the same thing to us if the roles were reversed. I thought it was pretty clinical by us and if you talk about foot on the throat stuff, that's exactly what we did.

As far as rock star team, we haven't been for a while now. And dont you think the two previous tests where we got hammered hadn't already done that?

You lost me at " Santner will largely be ineffective ". 😉

O'Rourke absolutely slinging it
How good having a late 140s low 150s bowler in the side. We could have a very good pace attack with Henry, Foulkes, Smith, O'Rourke. I was worried a couple of seasons ago with the upcoming retirements of Boult, Southee, Wagner but really optimistic with the potential there at the moment. It's the batting depth that has turned out to be the biggest concern now

Don't forget Ben Sears and Kyle Jamieson (🙏)

I'm hopeful for Jamieson but wonder how much he has left in him. Sears, I'm not a big fan of. Not sure what it is about him though. Early days for him though too.
He looked pretty good in his lone test against Australia, I think he's got a lot of potential.
Henry, O'Rourke and a fit Jamieson will go crazy though.
