Has anyone smashed these games in the past? I loved RL live 2 when it came out about 15 years ago, used to jam the tri nations with my mates, you were always gutted to get England as Aus and NZ were way better.

They're a massive level down from the EA sports games but as long as you're not taking them too seriously they're pretty fun

It’s been a loooong time since a new one came out but I had enough fun thrashing it.
It’s pretty much as you said, fairly basic game play and not as polished as some of the bigger companies but fun nonetheless.
Biggest problems I had with these games were the data they used was pretty much instantly out of date when released (squads, jerseys etc) and the gameplay was kinda about finding loopholes and spamming them rather than playing anything like you would an actual game of league

Unfortunately you don't truly own a game now unless it is physical, and even then it is dependant on the hardware still functioning to play it.

You still don't own a game, by having a physical copy. Hence why you are not allowed to make copies and distribute them.

Physical copies existed, because digital licenses didn't.

On the loops holes. My mate would re-arrange teams for playing on line. All of the players were playing weird positions so he'd get fast players in every position or specific skills in weird positions as it was easier to get the ball to them in the game.

I hope the new game has a lot of game play improvements. A lot of the passing and the way the game play works is similar to across previous rugby league games. It would be good if the attacking side falls into formations as a lot of the rugby league games it seems they just line up flat across the field. There may be a bit of that like the defence which you can set. But part of the difficulty is the speed of the game (tackle time) and keeping it flowing. Kind of like the real game. ;)

The squad updates they need to take advantage of modern gaming with internet connectivity. Either via patches, or have a community creation setup where you can download squads/teams people have created.
