Coach Bio

Brian McLennan started his post-playing career with North Harbour rugby league as development officer in 1994, and started coaching as an assistant with the Warriors U16 side in 1995 under Coach John Ackland.

He then took over as coach of third division Auckland side, the Hibiscus Coast Raiders, and led them to repeated Auckland Rugby League success until they were invited to be part of the national Bartercard Cup. He also went on to coach his junior club, the Mount Albert Lions in the Batercard Cup, and work as an assistant with the Kiwi's side with Daniel Anderson

In 2005, McLennan took over the head coach position for the Kiwi's from Anderson, and went on to win the 2005 Tri-Nations with a 24-0 victory over Australia, the Kangaroos equal largest defeat, and win the 2006 RLIF coach of the year award.

McLennan resigned as Kiwis head coach in 2007 after it was annouced he would be joining the Leeds Rhinos in the Super League.

In his first season as coach, the Rhino's won the 2008 World Club Challenge, beating Melbourne Storm, and the 2008 Super League Grand Final, beating St. Helens

In his next two seasons as Leeds head coach, McLennan would lead the side to another Super League Grand Final in 2009, defeating St. Helens again, and the 2010 Challenge Cup Final, losing to Warrington.

In 2012, McClennan joined the Warriors on a 2-year deal, replacing Ivan Cleary.

After eight wins in 22 matches, including two losses after leading by 18 points, a 45–4 loss at home to the Sharks, and a 52–12 loss to the Cowboys in consecutive weeks, McClennan was sacked by the Warriors.
