Voter turnout has increase since the low of 2011. There is no apathy or disingagement.
The centre left and centre right are still the predominant parties with mainstream policies representing their long term values (wether we like them personally or not).
Quote me some examples of Russian propaganda? Wtf would he be interested in NZ at all. Even if they have been more active show evidence anyone’s actually believes any of it. The Riussians are coming for our democracy sounds like propaganda itself…
Don’t get to emotionally invested and lose sight of the big picture that our country continues to be very centrist. As these pages show, people don’t change their political ideas easily.
And your idea of centrist is actually very right.
My evidence, aside from the opinion post I linked to? It's happening around the world. It's being driven by the right and far right to destroy western democracy in favour of the oligarchs and wealth extraction.
It's that simple.
A first step for some would be to acknowledge neoliberalism in all it's forms over the last 50 years, the people behind that, and the patterns of wealth extraction, the links to climate change and deliberate suppression of science, and also disinformation.

Hopefully this will also silence the flood of misogyny from a bunch of losers that flooded the internet recently. After all, how many of them have had any kind of creative success? Much easier to sneer and spew bile via their own insecurities on talkback and the toxic forums.

Labour was in last election, we flip flop between left and right in a globally socialist country.
NZ is centre left globally with US, Australia, Great Britain, etc all right of us.
We are world leading in many left issues (gender issues, LGBT, green issues, etc). Don’t let your personal views cloud you thinking about the whole country.
I firmly believe NZ has a centre line and the harder we go one way or the other, the harder we swing back. labour went far left last term and we’ve swung back hard right now. We will end up central over the long term because our people and economy ensure it. (Eg lose sight of the economy or people (to far left or right) and we become self correcting as the economy or people suffer)
