It’s not a trend in Australia. Tobacco related crime is at epidemic levels. Murder, shootings, firebombings. There are newspaper investigations happening.What I find concerning is that National have repeatedly said that they are responsible for the decline in ram raids in NZ through legislation they're past and programs such as boot camps by saying that ram raid data from other countries like Oz, Canada and the UK haven't recorded a decline in ram raids.
Problem with that is that of the four countries, only NZ collects national ram raid data.... it's impossible to know what's happening in the other countries as they don't collect national data for the number of ram raids.
It could well be a world wide trend occurring outside of government policy and programs aimed at stopping youth offending.
